No I left that off. It was done in Feb and they confirmed that when I enquired. Their system doesn’t appear to pick this up.
I remember getting a new set of PS4s on my M5 and it was a revelation. Transformed the car, oh I do miss that lovely M5. Glad you are still thoroughly enjoying yours, just an amazing machine.
I think many people underestimate tyres in general, but on a performance car, they're critical to the feel and balance. I'm sure it's very much more enjoyable. Only one thing to do now - get out there and do more than 1k miles this year!
Yes very true. I know for the money there is virtually nothing else that compares. And I know I’d regret it if I sold it. Whilst I have the means I will hang on to it and enjoy it. Do you miss yours?
Yes I tend to agree, despite my wallet’s protestations! Landed up with Michelin Pilot Supersports instead of PS4s, same as my old set. The car feels very different; the ride is more compliant and quieter. The rubber had definitely hardened on my old set. This car to date has had no expense spared, so she owes me some payback and smiles now !
Definitely got to make the most of these nice dry days and go exploit her capabilities! It definitely is more enjoyable now and cannot wait for the weekend. My last working day is Monday before I transition jobs on the 17th, so have lots of opportunities to take her for a blast now!
It is an incredible machine and I have the utmost respect for her. My tyres are Michelin Supersports, same as the previous set. I just went with whatever BMW supplied and that’s what I got. Regardless the ride and handling is night and day what it was.
Some shots of the car after it was lavished with love and attention (aka brand new tyres, a once over with AG Super Resin, and finished off with AG Ceramic Wax). I think it owes me now in the form of some trouble free summer drives
My fleet all washed and ceramic coated, plus a drive out to Caffeine and Machine (The Hut). I start my new job in London next Tuesday so making the most of the last of my free days. Can’t believe I’m saying it but both cars are equally great fun (for different reasons of course).
They both look spot on. You must be chuffed with the pairing, both so different and yet both perfectly suited to the job you want them to do.
Thank you. Yes I am. Just done a Heathrow Airport run in the 118i and I’m so impressed with how smooth and refined it is apart from my Idrive Nav deciding to freeze and lose GPS signal (never had that happen before). Apart from that, a really nice and comfortable little car and you’d never know it’s a 3 cylinder.
Luck definitely not on my side today. After a recent family trip away and focus on my new job, I thought it might be nice to get the M5 out for a blast. Not even 5 mins out and I hear a loud thud on the roof, likely an acorn. Sure enough I have a minor pock mark dent on the roof just behind my sunroof. Aargh! It is minor and most non petrolheads would suggest I’m being OCD. The paint isn’t broken it’s just a minor dent. Any recommendations on reputable mobile PDR companies?
OCD comes with the territory. People who regard cars as a type of appliance wouldn't understand. All will be well in the fullness of time.
That’s seriously unlucky! I had two hit my windscreen yesterday evening, certainly made a loud whack. Hopefully a decent PDR company can sort that for you.
Feel for you mate. That would really irk me. Given a lot of these PDR companies are franchised, best to ask around locally for recommendations since it all comes down to the operator themselves. Otherwise bite the bullet and get BMW to do it and then if it’s anything less than perfect you can complain and get it redone.
Passed its MOT with not a single advisory! Admittedly last year was the expensive year with the diff seals, new tyres all round and a number of other issues, but the extended warranty came into its own and now the car is in tip top condition. Love the beast! Dec is always wallet empty month with Extended Warranty, Insurance and MOT all up. And only done about 1500 miles this year. So cost per mile is exorbitant, but who cares its my pride and joy whilst the 118i does the heavy work miles. Vehicle Health Check from Partridge of Hampshire BMW Workshop
Congratulations! It looks in superb condition, I imagine the Tech was delighted to see a car presenting like that (other than the dealership doesn't make any money!).
I thought it looked good. Was surprised they didn’t try to find at least something to sell me. I did however get a call yesterday from their sales department wanting to know if I’m interested in PX for a new model. Not sure what I’d replace it with, most likely an M3 Touring. But I declined.
