BMWLand was an extraordinarily popular specialist BMW site that closed down in late May 2015 under very sad circumstances. The site was arguably one of the most friendly motoring websites on the internet and was sadly missed by those members and friends who created a close community through the forums and in real life itself. This website, BMWLander, was created partly to bring back together those members of BMWLand but also to try and maintain the spirit and ethos of BMWLand without attempting to recreate it. We hope that the site does BMWLand justice but also that members, new and old, will recognise that BMWLander will move in a slightly different direction but still maintain the friendly and helpful attributes that made BMWLand such a success. BMWLander is very much a work in progress and will grow and develop over the years. However, its history will never be forgotten.
Please accept my very best wishes for the future of this forum. Nigel Edit: Only just learned of this website on a PH thread. Have been wondering what would happen to the old 'Land after reading the sad news about the owner on their Facebook page some days ago.
Wishing you all the very best In time, I'm sure we shall make you very proud of your efforts and hard work! The day you stand back from your computer and say - I did (created) that, shall be a moment you shall have to share
Thanks. If we can create a little of what went before then I think that would be fantastic for lots of reasons.
Great job you've done here, CO. Like you, I found BMWLand not only one of the most friendly and helpful sites but also one of the most tolerant of others marques and captured members' interest over the entire spectrum of their car ownership, since there were so many people running different marques, but who were readily accepted and everyone engaged in interesting debate, mostly without bias. All the best for this site - look forward to helping you create something which apes the spirit of "the Land" but in its own way with its own style and content.
Great effort pal, much appreciated by all us ex "landers" . Here's to making it No. 1 forum as was its predecesor
Great to see it up and running. The Land was so helpful to me and it was a great resource. Thanks for working on this.
Not sure how i can help other than to contribute, but happy to do what i can. BMWLand was a great resource, let's hope we can bring some of that magic to this one...
Happy to be back. The old forum is sadly missed - gone but not forgotten - but I'm sure we'll have an enjoyable and interesting time here. Good luck and thanks to all the 'behind the scene' team for getting this site up and running.
Well done guys and good luck. Difficult shoes to fill but I'm sure once the word spreads it will be a real success. Thanks for the reincarnation
Well done and congratulations on getting the site up and running. I'm sure it will go from strength to strength. It will be interesting and exciting to see what the 'slightly different direction' will be. I haven't yet found out how to become a site supporter. Can someone point me in the right direction? Ps. Excuse my ignorance, but what do the bunny ears signify?
Hover the mouse over your user name at the top right hand corner and then select 'account upgrade' - says he who hasn't done it yet. LOL As for the bunny ears - as I understand it the original BMWLand site wanted to have a BMW white & blue roundel at the top of the page - but that was not allowed - so there had to an alternative - but exactly why bunny ears and not for example donkey's ears I don't know.
Hi lads, it's good to be back and pleased nobody jumped in and nicked my old user-name, well done to The CO for making it happen. Done the Site Supporter thing - come on lads, rally round and dig in to help.......
Hello again BMW family. Thanks so much for setting this up, I've really missed it. Glad to be back and to remember what came before. As offered on Pistonheads, if you need any help more than happy to.
Just found this reading the pistonheads topic, thanks for getting this off the ground, missed BMWLand, happy to see the community using this site.
