I used to post on the original BMW Land site under a different user name, but I am back! I drive a 535i that I bought from new and have to say I have never seen another!
Thanks guys. As expected, I am a BMW fan having had lots of cars over the years. Here they are; 1997 328i SE 2007 525d MSport 2013 530d SE 2015 535i MSport - current car And my wife has had; 1997 328i SE 2004 330d Sport Touring 2010 330d MSport Touring (currently for sale) 2016 M3 Competition Pack - current car
What colour was your 525d? I think I remember you as I had a 525i 2007 at the time and I’m sure we helped each other out. My user name is still the same by the way. I’ve gone to the dark side now!
Hi, yes I recognise your name. The 525d was Titanium silver. It was a good car and my first 5 series. It could have done with a bit more power, but ran to 140,000 with no issues other than a noise all the 525ds of that era made around 1750 rpm. I still believe the E60 looks good. Here's a picture...
And a welcome back from me I see in your signature that your 535i has MPPK - how are you finding that? I used to have a E61 530i but last year gave up trying to get a 535i and also turned to the dark side.
It is the switchable sports exhaust which up until recently I thought was only available for the 1,2,3 and 4 series. But I recently found out you can spec on a 540i
On the F10 535i, the "kit" is just an increase in power and torque, so no change to the exhaust. You can get an MPerformance exhaust, but it is non-valved and just makes more noise. No power gain is claimed. I have one, but it is not currently fitted to my car.
The MPPK added 20HP but more usefully 50Nm which made it just a bit easier to access the performance without having to rev it so much. I came from a 530d with over 500Nm, so quite different to drive at first.
Sounds good. I understand about the difference in torque, my 640d is seriously rapid, much more than my previous N53 engined 530i. It even sounds better, but the direct injection N53 was never renowned for its engine note . There is a guy who lives local to me with a 440i which has the MPPK fitted and it sounds great. Just interested to hear from others with first hand experience.
