    Hi all,

    well no call tonight.... :(

Just had a thought, IF they do approve new wheels, do they automatically fit new centre caps and the M badge to the wheels or do they just take those off the old wheels and fit on the new wheels?

I suspect they refit the old centres but the new wheels will have new M badges. Ed can get you the centres for about £40 from memory.

As kleynie said they will most likely refit the old centre caps unless their is an issue that warranty will cover. They have a habit of bubbling and the finish coming off sometimes, if that’s happened then ask them to investigate that issue as well.

Fingers crossed for you Kev, that they come up with a brand new set of wheels.

The wheel centres are notorious for bubbling / corrosion at the edges.

My car is going in for it's 2nd service later this week and I've requested they replace the wheel centres and the 'creaky' door seals both under warranty.

I think when they replaced all mine they also did the centre caps. Just one thing to note if any wheels have curb damage then they will not replace that wheel under warranty as they say curb damage is not covered even tho the wheel maybe showing signs of corrosion  Good luck(y)

Honestly this is the main thing that makes me get apoplectic with BMW dealers. I don't care if you don't have an update, i don't care if it's going to take longer, just CALL AND TELL ME! The whole leaving messages, and nobody. ever. calling. back hits my big red button. My local dealer are awful for it, to the point i'm about to change dealership because of it, and then another one did the same to ny OH last week. With a trainee too - you're not exactly training him in customer service when you tell him to ignore callback requests.

Seriously Kev - if you don't go in there and drag the information out of someone, i will gladly do it for you :)

I'm with you on that @Ninjagirl . I have raised this so many times with BMW CS but nothing ever changes, I have tried using three different dealers in my area, they are all the same. Even when I had £35k to spend I never received calls back when I enquired about AUC. I spoke to my dealer on 6th August about my AC (or lack of it), they never called me back and I really cant be bothered to chase useless people.
Its getting to the point now that I'm looking elsewhere, but I'm not sure anyone else is any better.

Exactly why I avoid main dealers certainly most are the same which is totally crap, thankfully now out of warranty so don't have to deal with these time wasters

    Hi all,

So just phoned the dealer.. again.... person dealing with it doesn't start till later today so they are yet again requesting him to call me. I have explained that I've phoned up several times and no call backs and its been over a week now and I still don't know what the decision is on my warranty claim that was submitted. So they have passed a note over to him regarding this to call me tonight and they have also sent a copy to one of the Managers so i'll give them till tomorrow and if no joy, i'm going to be on to BMW CS. I'm hoping I at least get a call back from one of them.

I told them I understand it may take few weeks to get the wheels in etc which is fine but I still haven't heard of a decision on the warranty claim yet to know if they are or are not changing the wheels.

I'm starting to think I may *have* to go down there or maybe i'll ask @Ninjagirl to go on my behalf :)

Yep, i'm still considering whether to switch brands but atm unsure what to also.

    Kev

I think we all know you won't receive that call, if you do it will be a revelation!

tbh i'm not expecting a call from the person who submitted the claim but i'm hoping for a call from the manager at least so i'm giving it 24hrs and we will see.

@Kev2005 Forget phoning, get it all documented [dates, times, names of the personnel to whom you spoke] and do all future communication in writing - that way, they can't wriggle out of their incompetence. It's too easy for them to play the 'deny' game :banghead:

If when desperation kicks in, a Private & Confidential email or letter address to Mr Graeme Grieve [BMW UK Man Director] WILL get a result, or at least a response.

Thanks @slim_boy_fat Unfortunately I don't have this persons email as when i asked them for contact details after taking the car in for them to take pics and send the warranty claim off etc, the person who dealt with me was not usually based at that dealership but he gave me the name of the person who submitted the claim and would handle it from here but that person had no business cards at his desk, so he took one from one of his colleagues and crossed out the name and put the guys name I was to contact.

I have the date i took the car in initially and the days i called up since to chase so can put all that down, don't have the persons name as it was reception i spoke to. Also don't have a email for the person and snail mail may take even longer lol. I think if no call tonight/tomorrow then I'll call BMW CS, if no replies by Wednesday next week due to bank holiday then I will email Graeme Grieve with a full list of date took car in, dates I've phoned up for updates etc and then see what he can do to get a answer. After than I guess it will be a visit to the dealership and basically sit at the persons desk till he appears lol

Try and take the car to your local dealer if you can get there and ask them to take a look, I can't understand how it takes this long to get an answer, you might find the other dealer agree it and get the wheels ordered within a day. Worth a try then if this dealer ever call back tell them they have lost the sale of 4 wheels off their parts sales and the labour time for replacing them.

Would my local dealer do it as the dealer i went to is all part of the same group so surely it would show up as a warranty claim already submitted to BMW UK as they need to approve it apparently, not the dealership so i'm told? I wont be able to get there until maybe next week the earliest due to shifts at work and even then might be tight as think they close at 6pm :( My local dealer need the car booked in and can only do it Mon - Fri as the team that handle this don't work weekends, hence why I went back to the place I bought the car as it was a bit further to travel out of my way but they could look at it on a Saturday.

No phone call so far tonight and tbh I suspect they wouldn't phone gone 9 or 10pm the latest so will see if I get a call tomorrow. If no call tomorrow, i'll phone BMW CS see if they are able to at least tell me that BMW UK actually got the warranty claim and who it is with and what the status is. Then ask them to escalate it appropriately to get a decision asap, of which i know they will say well with bank holiday weekend coming up etc... Then if no reply by Wednesday next week it will be a email to Graeme Grieve and see what happens then.

I think one of the reason I am this patient is that I can still use the car when required, its not like the car is unusable and i'm waiting for a decision on a engine part, for example, being replaced under warranty etc which touch wood, I won't have to ever experience :)
