There is a thread about this on pistonheads but this is the official BMW line.. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/glob...ng-a-voluntary-technical-campaign?language=en My 6 series is slap bang in the middle of the effected age range but since the EGR cooler and valve have been replaced I am not sure I will get a recall notice. My local dealer is aware of the issue and the 'recall' but my car does still not show on the list yet...
Thanks for the heads up on this, My 5GT has a January 2015 build date so should be included in the recall @kleynie what is the build date of your car @Singvogel I think we discussed this before on a different thread ?
Today, I booked my F30 into the dealer to have a faulty rear door lock replaced, and their computer showed that a recall was due for a "performance enhancement check" ie. they will check for a faulty EGR exchanger, which they will do at the same time. They also said that if the EGR does show up as being faulty, they may have to keep the car as parts are on back order. They would not allow me to take the car for safety reasons, and would provide an Enterprise hire car. I wonder what their attitude would be if I insisted on getting the car back? It drives perfectly normally, with correct temperature and no loss of coolant. I wouldn't want my F30 stuck in a compound for weeks, waiting for back order parts to become available.
You’d be requested to sign a disclaimer I was left feeling like I’d massacred a church pasture when I took my car out the dealer.....
I'm guessing this maybe the same as my egr recall earlier in the year... I thought they were replacing it but no, it was "re-programming it"... Kev
Nah! Different scale fella, the feeling was on a greater tense, church pasture is a small housing development of ten prestigious homes..........I’d Left feeling like I’d killed the families of ten homes! Okay, I’ll come clean I’m illiterate, though I blame Apples autocorrect (digging deeper eh!)
Just checked the build date on my F07 530D date is 12/09/2012 so i would assume i should have been informed, but have heard nothing, should i contact my local dealer.tim
My dealer only picked up the recall when I booked the car in to have a repair done. So I would suggest contacting your local dealer and ask them to check.
When I spoke to my local service manager he said BMW would be writing to every owner affected but it would be done over a period of months. Mine was not showing on the 'list' but he said it would be in time, even though both my EGR cooler and valve have been replaced he said it would still need to come in as they also check the inlet manifold, and potentially replace..
Well what to say.... Mine is a 2013 n57 6 cylinder... within the guidelines as I read it for recall... No letter yet for me...? Called Sytner Sheffield today... and they really starred... Did not know what I was talking about... and told me no recall for me... She even asked me what I knew about it. And where had I got the info from... Can someone just tell me to to definitively ascertain if mines due or not via reg’ or vin.. Plus it has been leaking but is not now... Cheers Al Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My dealer (Cooper's) certainly knew about it but I was speaking to the service manager who I now know quite well sadly from my previous EGR issues. My 640 is also 2013. Wonder if Ed at Cotswold can shed any inside light on it?
Good call Rang another dealer ( wakefield) who knew all about but still mine not on the list..! Weird Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just been reading up on it, "Possible symptoms include: - Coolant loss with associated Check Control message - Power loss with Check Control message - Smell of exhaust gas in vehicle interior - Whistling noise coming from engine compartment - Smoke formation in engine compartment"
Ed Would you have anyone down there who could check out why our car is not apparently showing due for this recall...? Only thing I can think is although it’s may2013... it could have been built mid 2012 before the start date..? I can share the ref with you if it helps.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With all 'quality enhancements' and recalls we just put the chassis number into the main BMW system and if something is due, it'll flag up. I've checked @idrussell 's chassis number and it reads.. "There are no Technical Campaigns for this vehicle" I can't tell why
