2 series active tourer 225i Xdrive on 18" wheels gives hard ride.Would like to change to 17" and deeper tyres to give softer ride.Does anyone know if 17" OK or would they foul "something"? Any advice gratefully received.

Would it be worth checking your tyre pressures prior to committing to new wheels I know that anytime I took my car out of dealers, they set the pressures to the maximum which totally changed the driving experience Check your placard on door pillar and tune your pressures May help
Absolutely agree. We purchased a brand new (29th March 2019)VW Polo with 9 miles on the clock for SWMBO. After driving it away from the dealers we both thought it was a hard ride. I checked the tyre pressures all round and found they were 51 psi. The fronts should have been 29 and the rears 32. Enough said.
What are you running on Run Flats or conventional.? Make of tyre as some give a much harder ride? If you already on 45 profile going 50 is not going to change a lot
Michelin Primacy 3 225/45R18 91W Run flat I wouls stick with RF to avoid changing wheels on a motorway after a puncture. Like the idea of Pirellis with rim protectors.
sorry but I have no experience of that size or Michelin Tyres I did swap wheels a few years ago on a 335 but that was from 40 profile to 50 profile. I have always found Bridgestones to be hard and noisy , found Contis a very good tyre. I do prefer Run Flats but at present on normal tyres as I bought car a few weeks old with 2000 on the clock
Thanks for interest.Found information I wanted on wheel-size.com-appears I can fit 17" wheels so now need to count the dosh.
