Hi all. I used to be on the old BMWLand forum, as Hearty, but have been away for quite a few years now, as I wrecked my 525d in a tiny accident that bent the front of the car by 2", only to be told it would cost £25k to fix it. So, I went off to a Volvo - knee jerk reaction, it was horrible, lurchy, bad handling and rubbish mpg (26 from a 2.4 diesel), then I got a little C Class Merc, C250CDI, monstrously quick for what it was, but now it's too small, so I'm back to BMW for a nice F11 535i MSport 15k miles on the clock and good spec, I'm really looking forward to getting into a proper car again Looking forward to solving all the problems that will inevitably arise. Any old members here who remember Hearty Warlord status, give me a hello . . . So sorry to hear about Matt, what happened - anyone??
Don't worry, collecting her tomorrow, all the way to Cardiff. Short spec: 535i 3 litre bi turbo, heads up, active cruise, cream leather, pro nav and radio, pano sunroof, rear camera, 16 speakers, 0-60 5.8 seconds.
Kev, It's metallic grey, not sure of the proper name for it. 18" rims with runflats, not sure that I'll keep those long term, we'll see what the ride's like. on the 525 I dumped RFT's for ordinarys and the ride was much better. They have just fitted two new rears, so it won't be just yet, whatever. It has adjustable dampers, so Sport mode should be fun . . .
Sounds nice, might be mineral grey Run flat are better than they used to be now, although quiet a few on here are not a fan of the Bridgestone potenzas but other run flat makes are ok. Be interesting to see what you think I nearly bought a 320D M Sport in Mineral grey, look really nice was xDrive was great, sadly the dealership wouldn't budge on the price and so was a bit too much for me so had to walk away. They were also offering low money as part ex. and wouldn't budge on that either, even though my previous car was fairly well speced. When i traded it in for my current car, i again got low part ex. and i saw it on the site and i think it was only on there a week and then it sold so they sold it quick as i knew they would as the spec was more than standard and mileage was low for its age. Kev
Most likely sophistico grey like my old 535 GT. @Hearty i do remember you. Many of us have moved onto other marques, I sold my 15 reg 535d GT in June and got a 66 reg Macan. If you want handling then you can’t beat it, but I do miss the shear power of my old BMW. The interesting thing is that, although many have moved on, we are all still here talking about cars, and that’s what makes this a great forum.
Thanks for the welcome back guys. - Jumped on a train from London to Cardiff, got a cab to the dealer, who I won't mention here, because he might not like what I say about him. Sat around for an hour drumming my fingers and watching the Customer Service desk with lots of scurrying staff, who occasionally came over to tell me that they were "fetching the car". So, after an hour, I started getting a bit pushy, asking what was going on, as I had by then been seen by 4 salesmen, none of whom ever came back with the car. Reason they couldn't find it? I was in Wales, and the car was in Wakefield! I was not happy, but kept some composure and arranged for them to get the car down for a viewing next Wednesday But the story doesn't end there - I'd seen another 535i in Hampshire, so I decided to go back up to Waterloo and catch a train down to Hook and look a the other one. Different spec, still has head up, adaptive cruise, soft close, blah, blah, blah, but no heated steering wheel, no pano roof. Anyway, I bought it - Artic White, aluminium trim inside, not the wood the other one had, but it is lovely. BUT - the story isn't quite over yet - I knew it had an odd tyre, sign of a leased car, but today I looked into it further with a mind to getting another one to match it on each axle - only to find that it's a winter tyre, the others being summer tyres. Where to go from here? Dunno, I think I'll call them on Monday to front it out as it's a V rating and should be Y, so I might get somewhere. Pics to follow . . . Hearty
Nothing worse than being messed about like that. Why not name and shame? Looking forward to the next episode, and the pics of course.
Shame when it doesn't go to plan, hope they sort it without hassle. BTW, welcome back and particularly to the 535i... I'm biased, then I would be, as long term F11 535i owner. Peter
