I used to have some swissvax (yes at that price!) Autobahn, but it’s run out on my previous car, I’m not planning on spending prices in the swissvax range again, but I’ve narrowed down to 3 different formulations:

    Poorboys wheel sealant
    Chemical guys wheel guard
    And
    Auto Finesse mint rims

Anyone have any recommendations, or alternatives?
I’ve never used ‘wheel cleaner’ chemicals on my wheels, just car shampoo and water, occasionally a fall out cleaner though granted, never had any issues.
The idea behind waxing my wheels all these years has been to ease cleaning and a protective barrier to road grime and brake dust.

I’ve got 19” wheels so being that low profile they need all the help they can get

Ive got my wheels sealed with Gtechniq products. They do one called wheel armour (I think its C5) but I used the same product that is used on the body. Both are excellent. Before that I used FinishKare FK1000P, which is a hi temp sealant wax and is very durable. I also used that for winter protection on the bodywork before it was ceramic coated.

My wheels have the Gtechniq treatment as well, it was done on the 20th August and I haven’t needed to clean the car or wheels at all since as the dirt and brake dust simply does not stick.

I've been using Poorboys for the past few years, on both summer and winter sets. Seal them when taken off, cleaned and stored, another coat before fitting back on.

To be honest, I'm not really into the 'fine art' of the best product. Poorboys was recommended as a good product at a reasonable price, when I was looking. Easy to apply and guess it holds up pretty well. Compared to other product, no idea.

Another for Poorboys, put two applications on initially and then reapply in March and Sept each year.
Wheels on both cars come up spotless with minimal washing, and none have engrained dirt or dust on them

I've always used Poor Boys wheel sealant. It's quite good but only lasts a few months, so requires doing 2 or 3 times per year.
I normally give them two coats. When washing the car afterwards, it's advisable to just wash the wheels with warm water / body shampoo. I suspect that some wheel cleaners will remove the sealant quicker.

I suspect that if you want longer lasting treatment them probably Gtechniq is the way to go.

(a bit more about the c5)

I had C5 on my first Panamera wheels, they still looked new about 36k miles later.
Easy to wash , especially if you can get into the inside of the rim.
Never needed to use ironx etc on them.

On my new car I applied it myself, its really quite easy, and a 30ml bottle just did my wheels, 21", and 315 on rears so not small.
Its the best £40 ever spent on detailing products.
Prob get an extra pack of the little applicator pad thingys. - some come with bottle though.

Thanks Rich - I will be getting the wheels refurbed on the Porkie when I can afford it since Porsche did a poor effort on refurbing the faces rather than the entire wheels when I bought it.

Once they're refurbed I will go to town sealing & protecting them. Sounds like C5 is just the ticket.

Am another who uses Poorboys . Really all depends on what you re prepared to spend, how much time on your hands etc , how often are you prepared to do it . Everybody has their own preferences.

Little and often, wash with regular car shampoo and dry with a spritz of quick detailing fluid
I’ve never polished / sealed wheels as I believe the key is frequent washing and not letting the brake dust build up! I do use a wheel woolie for the barrels
Granted I drive less miles than most though strict twice weekly wash (whether the car moves or not)
