we are all being told to stay home and stay safe but t seems that this advice is falling on deaf ears and people are treating this like a bloody holiday

yesterday snowdonia saw its busiest day ever for visitor numbers when people should be staying home and avoiding all unnecessary travel

    llanberis pass.jpg

    that was Llanberis pass yesterday

    90513050_649338725800418_3546841683037519872_n.jpg

that was posted on the south lakes police website at devils bridge kirby lonsdale today
all this irresponsible behaviour and ignoring advice is going to lead to one thing ant that wll be a forced lock down and that will just tie up the police trying to stop irresponsible idiots ignoring government advice

Peoples in built Darwin-theory seems to be coming to the fore.
I am dreading the next few weeks/months from a work perspective. I manage 12 schools, we have set up some excellent plans to support the vulnerable families and virtual learning, safeguarding calls daily those most at risk, and yet.....
Actual quote from one of the HTs I work with:

“Parent called me on Friday PM. She is insistent that her four children attend school, one of which is asthmatic. Even though her partner is unemployed, she claims to be a Key Worker therefore has the right to send her children to school”

And the key role she is providing? Shop assistant in Greggs.

Never mind all the staff and their families that will be open to possible infection. Challenging times for all of us. I just wish we taught common sense on the National Curriculum......

how much face to face contact do you have in your day to day roll and have you been told to change the way that you work ?

simple answer to the woman wanting to send here children to school is sorry you do not meet the criteria as there is somebody at home to look after the children

It would be the obvious answer to most, unfortunately the Sec of State has said that only one family member needs to be on the (huge) key worker list.
I’ve not been in the schools for a week now, feels hideously selfish given the huge challenges the heads are dealing with. Daily contact with all of them to answer any questions or just to hear them rant.
We shall see what the next few days and weeks bring. Undoubtably there will be changes to this. The DfE have issued attendance guidance for pupils, we will need to do a daily return so that they can monitor the numbers. The sub-20% turnout will be more like 50% in some cases. Therefore, contrary to popular belief, schools aren’t closed.

England guidance simply states one parent needs to be a key worker.

We do all need to stay safe. Unfortunately, some people think it applies to others and not them.

The silly hoarders are something else too....

then the schools should be seeking stricter controls regarding this provision. as it is mental to provide a school place to a child when one of the parents is sat at home and should be looking after his own children

You can't teach common sense. It's a misnomer, as it's not the least bit common. :getmecoat:

the press are causing a lot of the problems here with sensationalist reporting. they show pictures of people clearing shelves and all they do is encourage more people to go out and get what they can so they are not left with nothing the press should be shut down and told that all they can report is factual and important government information and not sensationalist bullshit that does nothing but scare people into panic buying

Yes it would be interesting to see how that would change behaviour. Fake news can be so dangerous.
