I work for a large Volkswagen dealer and run our car, commercial and PDI workshops. We closed last Tuesday. I was home by about 3pm and had a call at 4:15 that afternoon to say that we were re-opening one workshop only with two techs, me and someone from parts.

Been going in all week since to look after key workers vehicles and fix emergency breakdowns etc...

You would not believe the stupidity of customers still calling up to try and get their car or van serviced, buy a car, or cancel there order as we cannot deliver it to them currently.
One customer was demanding that we leave his new car in a car park for him or he would cancel his order.

We keep the whole building shut, customers do not enter and we do everything through a letter box for handing keys and paperwork over with disposable gloves.

Gets me out the house otherwise I would go crazy so good for me. Wife not happy as she has the kids all week and is trying to work from home as well.

    Tough times for everyone.

    Stay safe.

yes it makes you wonder what some people are thinking, here some people just seem to want to carry on as normal. my wife works in a post office and she says the number of elderly people that have been told to self isolate but are still coming into the post office for a book of stamps, one old dear came to post a parcel and due to restrictions on items carried by royal mail you have to ask what is in the parcel the old dear pronounce "it is Easter eggs for the grand children" and was surprised when the person serving her suggested that bringing Easter eggs to the post office is not an essential journey she seemed a bit miffed

l live and work in an area of mid wales where the coastal towns have large elderly populations and in one town the other day there was an elderly woman riding to the shops on a mobility scooter with a scarf wrapped around her face for protection these are people that if they get the virus then there is a good chance they wll not survive but they dont seem to taking it seriously

It does seem to be the case that many older people think they know best. My parents being prime examples...

My mum is 84 years old with underlying health issues and everyday she goes to local shop to pick up her copy of the daily mail. l am not sure what annoys me the most the fact that she is ignoring the rules and still going out or that fact that she buys the daily fail

we have told her to ask the shop owner to deliver the paper or get one of the Coronavirus Community Response volunteers to collect it and pop it thorough the door her answer is "l dont want to bother anybody because they are probably busy"

she has an online food shop delivered once a fortnight and she walks to the small local shop for her paper everyday and milk every other day we have all tried to tell her to stay in but not a chance

Yup, my 84 year old Gran is the same. She lives up in West Yorkshire. I’d arranged with my younger brother to drop her a weeks shopping round to hers, he did this on Friday. So what did she do on Saturday morning? Yup, got the bus to Asda. Because that’s what she does on a Saturday morning. Good grief.
I live 150 miles away, so quite frustrating and worrying.

you live quite close compared to me it is 345 miles door to door so 690 mile round trip so not a journey that l can do everyday

nearest sibling is 90 miles away so still an hour and a half trip to get there so Mum s pretty much on her own through this we were due to go up Easter weekend but that is cancelled now due to lockdown
