Can anyone confirm the thickness of the brake discs on my F30 330d M-Sport with standard brakes. I'm having difficulty reading the numbers stamped on the discs themselves - should have gone to specsavers perhaps - but really ought to have taken a note of the minimum thickness when the discs were new - nice shiny clean and easy to read. I believe, but am not sure that the sizes are as follows. Front discs when new: 24.00 mm and a minimum thickness of 22.4 mm Rear discs when new: 20.00 mm and a minimum thickness of 18.4 mm
From TIS: 'Brake discs must be replaced when they reach the nominal thickness (see table) minus 2.4 mm!' (1.6 mm for M vehicles and perforated ventilated brake discs) https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/...akes/34-00-braking-check-ventilation/GfguzB5W

What’s the mileage bob... Are you being a bit keen.. our 640d is on 80k ... discs are below min thickness, but show no sign of distortion yet.. Normally second pad change for me is a disc change as well.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you're right. I just checked the disc thickness this afternoon and they are both at 23.2 mm after 56K miles. So it looks like I'll only need a set of pads this time. The i-drive 'countdown' says new pads are needed in 2500 miles so that'll take me to about February. The dealership that did my oil-change and MOT offered to change the pads (and discs if needed) for me last month - as they said , correctly that they wouldn't last until the next service. Now that I'm better informed I reckon I'll hold off until the pads really reach the end of their life.
Yes, you'll have to get your sleeping bag out and join the rest of the punters camped out at the dealership, ready for that dawn stampede.
