Sidelight fault after condensation in headlight

i had condensation in my headlight on my f10 with adaptive xenon lights few weeks ago. Dried it out and left the top cap off to ventilate it. Now just got an error saying sidelight and indicator fault! So probably due to the water that was inside it. Will this just be a module fault and if so are they expensive / need coding etc? Condensation is actually back even with the cap off so headlight definitely leaking badly. I’ve heard I could take it out, dry it and seal all around with some silicone.
Is this the best option or is there a better remedy.
Don’t fancy a new headlight!

 

Did you get any solution to this problem, as I have exactly the same faults as you on my 2011 528I. How is the TMS module programmed ie off the car or can it be done once installed in the headlight but prior to fitting the headlight into the car? Also can you test the existing headlight, once it is dry, by just plugging it into the normal socket and checking indicators etc?

 

Best I’ve got was to remove the headlight and dry it out completely in the oven then sealed all around the joint between the lens and headlight. That seemed to cure it for a while but then started to get condensation back in after a while but nowhere near as bad. I now just leave the top cap off and it’s fine. I did even try drilling holes in a cap and fitting that but somehow it still wasn’t enough ventilation.
I assume the new module would need programming once installed on the car.
Yes you could dry it all out then connect it back up before fully fitting it.
I removed the module as soon as I could from the headlight once I started getting errors and dried it out and this error hasn’t returned so I must have caught it before any damage.
I’d try drying it all out completely as soon as you can and see if it cures the errors, then leave the cap off the top of the headlight or put some silica beads inside to absorb the moisture.

 

I have a 'o/s front sidelight bulb out' warning come up on the dash on start-up. My own fault as I obviously disturbed when connection when I had my hand squeezed in there to remove the rear cover as an aid to allowing the condensation to dry out.

Too cold & I'm too ill to be out there testing/plugging things back in. I just drive with the h/lights on, or not, if it's full daylight.
