Not much done today, other than cleaned the flywheel, fitted rings to piston and fitted it to the con rod.
fuel tank turned up today, had some rust holes! cleaned up and soldered and primed ready for tomorrows spray up
Good project. From what I remember, this marine version looks similar to the farm ones I used to see as a kid in the late 40s and early 50s. It reminds me of the one used on what was called an elevator that took sheaves of corn up to the top of a thresher.
Just need to adjust the rocker arms and this stage is complete. Then onto fuel, exhaust and cooling system .
need to build a proper trolly for it soon, the trolly I have now is not up to the job, I'll start that next week. here's what the cooling system will look like I have a very course pitch fan which has a high CFM to RPM ratio ( from a hydraulic power pack) the radiator is the heat exchanger from an old hydraulic power pack which the fan was part of. the fan will be attached to the flywheel by the means of some threaded rod screwed into the centre of the crankshaft. the alignment will be critical hence a proper Ridgid trolly will be needed as the fan will sit inside the shroud drawing air from a predetermined gap like an impeller pushing the air out through the heat exchanger.
Ooops.... try this That's a Google image, just to let you see the type which I think should go on your trolley....
