HI, As the title says pls as my RAC is no longer being supported for dash cam updates. Would like laser detection as well if possible not concerned about rear cam just front. Thanks
I’m happy with my Garmin Dash Cam 45, bought refurbished from eBay. Currently has attic camera warnings and known van locations. These are update via the Garmin site. Has WiFi for downloading the videos. No laser detection though. Nice small unit that doesn’t get in the way of my vision. This was just the test fit, I’ve hardwired it in now for a much neater install.
Thanks would really like the laser option if possible as it should pick up the scatter if they laser the car in front so you get some warning
I have a Snooper 4Zero with laser detection. To be honest you would have to be on that brake pedal quick ! And many cars also set it off, notably Mazdas - i think their parking sensors are actively permanently. And now its set off by a lot more cars, presumably stuff like lane change warnings etc. Which only leads you to not necessarily braking when the alarm goes off for a true laser detection, as you are so used to false alarms. Cant imagine other detectors are much different ? ? That said, I wouldn't be without it.
I have never tried one with integrated screen. I always go for the discrete ones to run and configure from my Android. Have you looked at this one.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mio-MIVUEC330-1080p-Camera-Detection/dp/B01N4BBRI6?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2
Stuck in the realms of boredom, I have repurposed an old IPhone to use as a cycle pedometer Gives the advantage of changing between bikes and no requirement for multiple units Whilst I previously used a frame mount with current phone, as I’m now using an old phone and hotspot from current phone I’m not so fussed about damage, so have purchased a handlebar mount Using the map my ride app, gives sufficient data, whilst pushing pedals, whilst google apps will give me sat nav should I get lost & radio apps give music! Purposefully not installing a free sat nav app as the updates require storage space! No sooner finished setting up, I explored using phone for video footage as too many ring pieces driving overpowered Audi’s nearby. Several App options exist to get clear footage, with A nother several apps can be used for Speed detection. (Easy update) Giving repurpose to an old phone that’s thrown in drawer real meaning (I have seen YouTube footage of people using old phones as dash cams, perhap cumbersome, though pretty much cash neutral) First frame mount should arrive tomorrow, hoping to stumble across a high compression rolling camera app, then I can perhaps empty drawer of old phone collection, knowing my son has asked for a go pro for months (he has a cheap one that never leaves the house), I’m thinking with parental instinct he shall want mums old phone strapped to his bars!
I have a Blackvue front and rear cam with a dedicated battery. I’m not sure about speed cameras as I haven’t really had chance to fiddle with it yet as I only fitted it on Sunday. I bought it in Sept, but I was waiting for Porsche to replace my sunroof before I fitted it, with the battery I think it was around £550. I will report back once I’ve had a play.
