l have been browsing the BMW approved used website and when looking at the spec of a vehicle dealers seem to list features twice to make the car look more loaded than it actually is. an example Visibility pack BMW icon adaptive led headlights Headlight wash High-beam assistant led headlights headlight wash and high beam assist are all included in the visibly pack so why list them as separate items ether list the visibility pack or the individual options but don't list items twice l am off to look at the Mercedes website now
I think it’s to do with how options are ordered with Germany. The UK have bundles of options which get ordered separately via the system. This has got worse with the recent shift to more and more packs, rather than individual options. So when you look at the UK spec, you get the pack as well as all the constituent parts listed. Agree, it is also the way options are listed in the VIN Specification, like on BMW WebETK. Here is mine for S2VAA, Adaptive Drive. Top two entries S223A & S229A are the component part options. Peter
All these packs confuse me. I still have my original E46 regular and M3 brochures with options. Was so easy ordering individual options back in the day without these ridiculous packs being forced on us now.
BMW have been pushing packs for quite a while. Part of the current reason for more packs, is the WLTP test regime. I understand all significant combinations require being put through the emissions testing. A cost and time penalty, particularly when first introduced. Not the same buying experience as the à la carte menus of 'bygone' days. When a basic BMW was just that, basic. Then add just what you wanted. Peter
But when you come to the configurator, it gets sorted out, and some items/extras/accessories/options are unticked because they are part of the pack. However, when giving the final order to the dealer, I found some of these options did not appear on the invoice. When I queried this I was advised that the M Sport has that as standard and they did not need to list it. I just had to download this year's model brochure. In the case of the tyres, nowhere does it mention Run Flats in the configurator and because I wanted standard NON-RFT's, I specifically asked for NON-RFT's, only to be told the later LCI X1s have normal tyres. If you want a spare wheel/tyre @£150, you have to ask for it otherwise you get the (gunge) mobility kit! Then I wanted the optional touring fuel tank (10 litres larger), but that comes F O C (normally £50 extra) on the 2020 F48 LCI X1 xDrive 2.0i M Sport.
