I’ve had a couple of Skodas the last 5 years, one a MK3 Octavia VRS and also MK3 Superb Sportline. Both fantastic cars. Octavia was cheap as chips and the Superb was more £££. In fact Skoda has hiked all their prices up in the last few years, finance deals are close if not equal to the other VAG brands. Popped in to local dealership today just to have a nose and found a newly delivered Octavia VRS MK4. It’s so new you can’t spec one yet, but it’s looking decent. Couldn’t get a good shot as was boxed in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Not sure if it is the camera angle, but the Octavia looks rather high. I test drove a new vRS derv just over two years ago, very impressed with the look, feel and drive of the car. I didn’t go for it as I didn’t feel a lease/PCP worked for me then. Bought a used E92 instead.
Skoda are definitely a brand on the up, depreciation is relatively low and well proven mechanicals.....just wrong wheels driven....
There's a new Octavia Est on the next road to me. Walk past it daily with the dog and it looks very smart (not a VRS). There's also a Superb 280 4x4 estate on the same street which I also like. The owner changed his Macan for it and loves it to bits.
Well maybe... But.. the technology on those would be more than that on my F15. Maybe I just need to purchase a more modern X5! I just don’t think I could... was saying that to her in doors it just wouldn’t be a patch on the one we have now. I just get these annoying itches to scratch Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Yeah camera angle from the front make is look a bit odd. I’ve had similar debates in the past, cash buy versus the finance/lease option. E92 is a lovely car, I had a 330d E92 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Deffo, not sure how much more up they can go without stepping on the other brands toes. When I had mine, I often gave the badge snobs Audi owners a good joshing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
The 4x4 are pretty good and in 280 guise! Wolf in sheep’s clothing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Its OK, VW and Audi look like they are heading more downmarket so Skoda can be premier brand (and yes I have just bought an Audi but you cant get that engine and drive combination in any other VAG product except the P word.....)
Just looked at these and the power on the post WLTP has dropped to 272PS. I built one on line and the price zooms up with some decent options but it would make a good Q car! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just specced one of these VRS now, came out at just shy of 40k! https://cc.skoda-auto.com/gbr/en-GB...9e8e&trimline=NX6|vRS6311163001&visitedPages= I shouldn’t test drive one as I think would push it even closer to scratching that itch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
It is front wheel drive though and maybe the Golf GTI would be more fun? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes true. The Octavia has always been more appealing for the space and usually cheaper per mile. I just think I need to get out in the X5 more, this lockdown and 2 weeks off work is just making me ponder too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Hahah. I know the feeling. My man maths calculator has been working overtime lately. As the depreciation on my car is starting to slow down, it’s becoming cheaper, so I ought to keep it, but I can make a nearly new M340i touring appear cheaper and of course a 340i is much cheaper.
