These arrived yesterday, the wife said I’m buying jewellery for the car...made me laugh. Nice packaging.
That would be a great joke Xmas present for her, she wouldn’t be amused. To be fair she is well catered for on the jewellery front, last Xmas I said she could have the best diamond ring or a new kitchen. I was hoping she would choose the ring but alas it was the more expensive option.
I found the sports dials today. BHP and Torque gauges on the idrive display. It soon turned into a game of how far car I get each dial to go. Mrs W was not amused. She says she prefers the older car (E92). Cracking drive to Broadway and back, went for a walk up the hills and a spot of lunch. The car is such a Jekyll and Hyde character, potting around in waft-o-matic slow mode, then pinning me into the back of the chair with some epic acceleration. And all in Comfort mode! “I don’t ever want to see Sport mode” said the good lady wife.
Good luck with those. I once (well twice) bought some fancy dust caps for one of my first cars. I was incredibly upset when they disappeared a month after putting them on. I naively replaced them thinking it was a one-off, but those only lasted a week. Since then I've stuck with the generic plastic ones.
I had a very similar set on the E92 for two years, they managed to stay on for the duration. Fingers crossed this set do the same.
I would have left them in the box as it ruins the box removing them... Not that they wouldn’t suit car, they would, but as mentioned scumbags will like them Ps Cracking car by the way!
Absolutely loving the ownership experience thus far. Have now almost stopped looking at the mpg read out and am enjoying the car. This engine is incredible, lazy waft-o-matic and 7k rpm loonatic. Needs a good wash again, wet and wintry roads have given it a layer of muck.
lots of time to wash it after midnight but not so much time to enjoy it my car has not turned a wheel for two weeks now
Funny you should say that...I work as a regional director for an academy trust, I have 12 schools that I essentially manage. Since lock down I’ve only visited 3 schools since the12th March, usually I would be doing 4/5 visits a week. So my mileage has fallen off a cliff, however, this week and next I’m needing to cover a HT in one of my schools as she has been tested +. So I’m actually driving....only 16 miles each way, but still driving. Clean will have to wait until the weekend.
Can’t beat the new car feeling, A comforting change coming diesel to petrol, totally different ambience that’s overlooked by raw torque (though likely not in your case!) I’m averaging less than 25mpg though that’s conservative and most likely 18mpg what with short journeys I’m also in the unfortunate disposition of having a minging car as bathroom has precedence at moment, very saddening!
l to have been working throughout the wales lockdown and as l walk to work the car has not been out as we are not even supposed to drive out to exercise glad you are still enjoying the car
Best not to look really.....although I sneaked a peek today and it still said 36.8mpg. Happy with that given that this tank has been a real mixture of motorway and some hooning. Stop/start did it’s job on the commute home today, standing traffic for four miles before the M5 and then same the other side.
A very different driving experience in many respects comparing the 320d with this one, but the torque in the 440i is pretty impressive, even form very low revs. The twin scroll turbo does a good impression of a derv that way, very quick to spool up at low revs/speed. And then continues all the way up to much much higher revs than the derv.
if you can keep it the mpg to around 30 that would be very good but still a massive drop from the miles the 320D gave you but probably a little bit more fun
