I have also heard that Costco are very good, unfortunately they don't have any branches around here but looking at their website the prices are extremely good, seem to stock a lot of Michelin tyres at really good prices.

I used Costco for tyres for many years. At that time they only supplied Michelin, and their prices were unbeatable. Plus they had regular offers - "4 Tyres for the price of 3", which made them even cheaper. They also had a 3 ramps workshop that was very professional - no marks and always perfectly balanced. Unfortunately, they don't supply the relevant sizes in runflats for my F30. But Costco would get a five star rating from me.

    Tyreleader for me
Ordered lots over many years for various and also friends and colleagues cars
But Luckily for me I have a man down the road who will fit, valve and Balance for £10 a corner ...( runflat or not....) bargain..!!
I even have spares already loaded in the garage ready to be used ...
No way I am paying dealer prices...
If you keep your eye out on tyreleader occasionally they will have some ‘up to 2 year’ old ones ..( still within the 5 year storage window) at half the cost of a new one...

Some food for thought, thanks all.

I have tried Costco a few months ago just out of interest. Came in around £254 for a corner for Bridgestone Duellers. Heard more bad than good with those on cracking the rims? Anyway although Costco not necessary the cheapest, they definitely seem to be when they have the offers in but usually with Michelin’s or Dunlop.

Also I think they didn’t have the fronts to match the rears, he was looking directly on the system and the rears aren’t available to price online.

When the car goes in for its new seat cover, I may enquire out of interest and see if they better the price with a comparable offer.

I've just done a comparison quote for winter tyres - Michelin Pilot Alpin 225/45 R18 95v runflats. Tyreleader came in at £159 (supply only)
and Costco price is £142 fitted and balanced. So just shows how good Costco prices can be. That includes an offer of an extra £20 off.
My current winters have around 4 mm tread left, so I'm sorely tempted at that - if only I wasn't locked down. :(

wow... just checked the price for mine at Costco, with discount that works out at less than £172 fitted, excellent value :)

TyreLeader price is £205.29 supply only. I know where i'll be heading too next, assuming these Buy 2 / Buy 4 discounts continue.

@Adie based on my experience at Costco, Manchester, you won't go far wrong. All the years that I used them, never had a problem with marks and balance was always good. They also inflate tyres using nitrogen, which is better than just air (also why aircraft use N2). The only problem that you may have, is waiting time. If it's busy at Costco with several cars in for tyres it may take a while. I used to go in the off peak shopping time. Plus we used to spend the time replenishing supplies from the warehouse. Good luck, anyway. (y)

Don't forget that Costco prices are Nett of VAT, so you need to add VAT on.

Those are great prices. We were at Costco today but I had a stinking headache so didn’t go in the tyre store, I think it was the quickest shop we’ve ever done there!

Online there’s only these available, none for the rears (315 35’s) but as previously mentioned the live stock on the computer differed to the website and they were pushing the Bridgestones.

I bought from the dealer once when the 535i was in for a service, as the rear tyres were lower than I realised - worn on the inside edge - and despite trying to get them to price match, I just sucked up the £30 - each - extra that it cost me.

the original question was does anyone or has anyone purchase tyres from a dealership

l personally haven't but manly because when l needed a tyre they were only interested in selling what they had or could get easily rather than trying to find a tyre that matched what was already on the car. that being said many people at BMW service will be fleet customers in a car that is company owned so if it needs a tyre it will be done
l suspect the same may happen with some customers that have a car on PCP

last couple of tyres l have bought one was when l was out on a road trip and l was sat in a hotel room on a Sunday night trying to find a place nearby that could fit a tyre on Monday morning. when l got home l went to my local tyre depot to replace the tyre on the other side so l had two new tyres on the rear. l had a price from black circles and asda tyres both use my local place as a fitting centre. l told Phil match that price and l will have the tyre with you
that way they get the profit on the tyre as well as the fitting fee rather then when they fit for black circles or asda they only get £5.00 per tyre to fit and balance

I have had tyres from a main dealership. In 2018, we spent Easter in Dumfries, SW Scotland, for a family wedding. We were unfortunate to get a front tyre blowout, and were taken to the local BMW dealer by the Emergency Services recovery. The dealer replaced both front tyres at a cost of £480 the following day, Easter Monday. Under the circumstance, I was more than happy to pay the bill. It was also my decision to buy 2 tyres, so that I would be within the tread tolerance for an xDrive. The service from BMW Cross Flags was excellent, albeit rather expensive.

Well the price from the dealership didn’t go to plan. They correctly identified the rears were starting to go low, but failed to identify the correct rear tyre size as I have the staggered set up.

Anyway the price for the fronts 274 40 20

    Dealer £304.12
    Online and fitted £176.53

    For the same tyres!

Also not sure why one of the fronts need replacing .1mm difference.

Whilst not a Bmw, I had to replace x4 tyres after circa 4200 miles
As picked up on first service, cost to replace was £780.77 with camskill offering the same tyres for £507 (unfitted)
This was a warranty claim against manufacturer & the refund was £882.10

Price variation between suppliers was absurd when I was looking for same OE spec & brand with the dealer offering little incentive other than damage free fitment!
However, I now have a temperamental TPMs that I’ve probably left too long to return to dealer - though I shall!

Yes I thought so too compared with the rears that jump up £100!

Albeit tyre prices seem to be like shares, up and down.

    Those are * rated too.

I missed a trick as other week they had the rears 315 35 for just under 250 a corner. Hopefully they’ll come back down again.

My last few sets of tyres (not on the BM), have come from Tyres on the Drive, think they are owned by Halfords, always been very good, and very reasonablt priced, and the best bit is they come to work and fit them :) When it comes to getting some fitted to the BM will see who is doing a deal on Michelin's

    They are indeed.

I’ve actually used these, not for myself directly, but for a work friend. I ordered the tyres for her Audi.

This added me to their mailing list and they ran an incentive to get a free Amazon voucher if I recommended someone. I duly did and they never gave me the voucher! Despite emailing them to composing, just got fobbed off it’s on its way.

Competitive pricing at the time from memory and the convenience of getting them done on the drive!
