As newer BMWs do not come with service books anymore, it's impossible to tell from the i-Drive service history page who has carried out work on our vehicles; unless of course it's done during our ownership in which case we know where the work was done. This has been discussed on other BMW forums and some are compiling their own dealer code lists as information is fed back from forum members. The best list I've seen is at f30.bimmerpost.com but I won't reproduce it here as I don't have permission to do so. Can we have something like that on our forum please? I have service history from dealer codes 08611 and 44831 but haven't got the foggiest idea who these dealers are. Update - After talking to BMW HQ I now know whom these codes belong to, see below.
I called my local BMW dealership to ask about the above dealer codes and they can't access a list either!
The f48 has 08898 I assume to be Ocean in Plymouth(pre delivery) before I bought car,and 08661 being Halliwell Jones (North Wales)
The girlfriend's new 2018 X3 was PDI'd at SCH Southampton (similar to the holding centre at Thorne, South Yorkshire) and they have a code of 44831. The next two services were done whilst it was owned by a guy in NI at Bavarian BMW Belfast, code of 08611.
There MUST be a list of these codes available to the dealerships themselves. I think it is impossible to determine any sequence or order from the codes themselves - neither alphabetical, numerical or geographical. For example 08610 is in Aberdeen while 08611 is in Belfast. AFAIK there are 157 dealerships in the UK. Until we can obtain a list from a BMW source, the best we could do is to do what has been done on another forum and create our own. Is there a sizeable demand among forum members for this? It would be easy to create an exclusive thread that we add codes to as and when we discover them.
Singvogel, may be the representative from Cotswold BMW Hereford can answer your point that: "There MUST be a list of these codes available to the dealerships themselves." Of the dealership sales admin departments that I spoke to, they didn't have a list. BMW HQ did supply the names of the BMW centres that have dealt with our car in regard to PDI and servicing, but I don't know how they obtained that information and if they used a master list or not. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the only useful list I've come across was on the f30.bimmerpost website, post #10 here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1584724 I think this is becoming more of an issue now because we don't have physical service books anymore on new cars, it's all recorded on the iDrive.
My 640 has all service entries carried out at dealer 08633, looking at the MOT history (on the DVLA vehicle enquiry website) one of the services was carried out at exactly the same time and gives the dealer as Williams BMW Bolton. So it's fairly safe to assume that: 08633 = Williams BMW Bolton
@Cotswold BMW - is this something you could help with, providing there is no prohibition on disclosure?
