You wait Garage of our choice and all that…. Multiple repairs later etc etc… Don’t want to be a profit of doom, but the guy who got rid of it knew what he was doing… most likely… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hope it works out positively for you Ian. Whilst I don't want to be a harbour of doom you wouldn't be the first on here to successfully move back to BMW from Porsche should it come to it.
Sorry to her of the issues, hope Cazoo do the right thing and pay for Porsche to repair Glad you and family are ok now also! Kev
Yes, I did look at the X4M but that didn’t do it for me, although the £50k I spent on the Macan would have got me an X4 just a few months old. Honestly though, there is nothing in the BMW range that floats my boat at present. Alpina though.......
Yes, my mate bought his wife a brand new Evoque in May, he immediately spotted some imperfections after delivery, then some rattles. It’s been with the dealer since a week after delivery in May and he has a basic loaner ever since. He is now fighting for his PCP payments back for the months they’ve been without it. On the other hand, my parents have a lovely 69 reg golf GT and it is fab with not one single problem since new, and it was only £22 grand with sunroof and heated seats. Makes you think that premium cars aren’t so premium and maybe we should just go and buy a well spec’ed golf.
I'm finding the same myself, very limited choice... either too big+/or crap design ... just hoping that the forthcoming M2C will fit the bill.... please don't screw this one up too BMW
Agree that their is a lack a desirability in some of the BMW range. Some marmite looking cars out there. I was extremely impressed with my neighbours G21 320d touring when I drove it back in the summer. BMW had really sorted out the ride quality of the M Sport on 19"s and the interior was a step up for a 3 series. A M340i/d touring in Oxide Grey with red merino leather and silver wheels would be my choice. An X5 45e is an absolutely superb machine but expensive and probably too big for our needs. The new M240i xdrive as a 2nd car if I win some money! There is a green B5 touring living near here - not sure even if I had a couple of million that I could bring myself to spent £100k + on a car.
sorry to hear that the whole family went down with Covid but good to hear that you are all over it now the detailing work is always satisfying when they hand it back. but at this time of year it gets dirty very quickly what was the paint on the car like before polishing was it quite swirled and marred the oil leak is a real downer and lets hope you get that sorted and that the seller is happy for the car to go into Porsche to be fixed properly
Another one being put of Porsche by the experiences of others on here. In the big scheme of things its a small matter, the health and well being of family being far more important. Cazoo have got themselves a problem, they have acknowledged there is a problem and if they are a responsible company they need to fund a repair or otherwise they are potentially stuck with a Porsche needing £000s spending on it before they can resell or trade it. Perhaps a "business to business" wuote from the Porsche dealer will be slightly less ? Good luck hope it gets resolved soon
The paintwork didn’t look too bad before, but I don’t think the car had been looked after very well by its previous owner. I’m saying that because the interior had scuffs on the extended leather dashboard where someone had carried long items in the car and damaged the dash. I had to have that repaired at the same time as the detailing, so what I paid did also include the interior repairs. They also removed the stone chips on the bonnet and scratches on the top of the rear bumper, nothing bad, just normal four years or wear and tear I suppose. So the detailing wasn’t just about swirl marks, it was much more than that. I also wanted a car that would be easy to clean and having my previous Macan ceramic coated made me realise how good this stuff is. Whether the car actually needed the stage two correction I am not sure, but under the lights you could see the swirls.
as you are probably aware l am a ceramic convert and have had my last three cars done and the 440i only came back on Friday after having a full machine polish and ceramic package with Feynlab heal lite coatings l remember that you said about the scratches on the leather and it is amazing what they can do to restore damage to leather. all we have to hope now is the seller agrees to cover the repair and you can get the extended warranty on the car
thank you the paint was really good before it went in and there was only two marks that l was aware of one small stone chip on the bonnet and one mark on the rear nearside door that was wet sanded to remove. the car was detailed and treated with Gyeon ceramic when new and even though it is three years old it has only covered 6000 miles so should still be tidy
Sorry to hear of your woes with this Ian. However do stick with it. You know yourself already what a special car it is to drive. The fact that Cazoo has already accepted liability, albeit not the Porsche route, gives at least some confidence. Keep at it and I’m sure you’ll end up with the right resolution. The fact Porsche know what it is is already a huge bonus compared with the situation I had with the Cayenne GTS. Like you I had also invested heavily in it but had no choice in offloading. But that was down to them not being clear on what was at fault. I foresee a better outcome for your Macan GTS.
Yes, I heard yesterday afternoon that Cazoo have instructed Porsche to proceed with the repair, total cost in the end is £5700. I am totally amazed TBH. They are also arranging a courtesy car for the two weeks it will take. So, in short, so far Cazoo have been very fair, lets just hope nothing else comes up during the work. Ian
That is a massive result for you Ian, you must be elated. It certainly shows these new players in the market are behaving in a better way than the establishment. Hats off to Cazoo if that's how they deal with expensive faults. The neighbour opposite recently bought a Yaris from them, it was prepared better than any 'approved-used' example would be, delivered to the door in a covered truck by a friendly chap who went through the car with her etc. So that's two positive experiences I've heard recently about them, when it comes to replacing this BMW, then I will give them a look.
Yes it certainly is a result. In actual fact it was Porsche who held up the process as they were reluctant to give Cazoo a fixed price quotation. Lets hope it all goes to plan.
