Hi guys, quick question please as we seem to have a small issue with out G series. The first service was carried out and the detailed have been logged on the I drive fine. The 2nd service was carried out and the detailed have been logged on the I drive fine too. A few days ago we got a warning stating our service was due soon with in 2020 Or 1,200 miles? Strange so we tried a reset again with the correct software, we even done it in connection with the in line vehicle check ( you have to so this on G series) and it reset it but will only change the mileage to 1,200 miles and this is causing a service soon warning etc? Also my service history has been lost on the idrive and gone back to first service. This happed just as the car was in use one day? Any one had this before or know a way to change service interval back to 1 year or 12,000 etc
Mate I wanted to know too but this forum isn't accommodating G30/G31 and G38's from what my experience going through the forum. Try moving this to the EV and Hybrid section. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No worries, I managed to sort it out in the end. I had to upgrade my ISTA D to 2018 and use my network lead but carried out a full CBS reset and in there is a menu where you can program your nee service requirements, I changed it to the correct interval.
My point was, that there isn't a dedicated G30/G31/G38 sub-forum, only a ev/ hybrid section which doesn't make sense to me as my G30 530e has more similarities and issues common to a G30 530i than to an i3 or i8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok, fair point, I’m sure @The CO can make amends. We are a friendly bunch on here and it’s hard to read such criticism from a newbie, especially when it takes a lot of time and effect to run these forums in people’s own time for the love of it. I hope you will stick around and contribute to the wealth of knowledge on here, it’s just a shame that there is very little knowledge at the moment around the G series cars, but it will come in time.
we dont have that many members that own the G30/G31 5 series yet so the sub forum would be very quiet and little used
I understand but I've been surfing through these forums since past one year and never registered as there isn't a section for my car but I've been active in the American counterpart forum which I'm not going to mention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There's not a sub forum for any of the other E/F vehicles, surely your 530e issues would be in the 5 series sub forum?
As membership grows so does the site. For example there is now a dedicated sub-forum for Porsche but they used to be under 'Other Marques.' At present there is no demand for sub-forums for every E/F/G/XX designation but I'm sure I will do eventually. We have quite a small membership don't forget, only about 1100 people a lot of whom are fire and forget which is shame.
You've got me, I stand corrected. I use tapatalk and on various bmw forums, i thought I read the description of E'/F's but must have been another forum. I have attached pics of my 530e and since owning it for a year and have done some mods to and have a few mods that require some money to be thrown at which I will do in due time.
@Farravi that is a nice looking car l bet it is nice to drive l have only driven a G30 once and that was at a dealer event on launch weekend and l said at the time that l really enjoyed driving it and a 530D X drive would have been my car of choice at the time but now due to all the bad press about dirty diesels then a 530e X drive would be a car worth looking at
Mate it’s quite smooth but my car has the basic M sport spec which is alright but things like electric folding side view mirrors, front and rear parking cameras, crappy BMW basic sound system (no tweeters) lack of sunroof makes it rather annoying but I bought it for a good price so I’m putting up with it for now. I think xdrive for this kind of power output is overkill, if anything, I’d suspect it would decrease the fuel economy when engaged unless you can switch it off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice car - that colour really suits it. What kind of mpg are you getting out of the hybrid? Only if you have the latest M5, which is switchable between 2wd and 4wd.
@Mieke not as much as the hype surrounding ev's especially in London where there either aren't enough charging points or if you happen to get lucky, it's either out of work, hogged by another ev for hours, not to mention 10's of different providers so you need to register with everyone if you want to a decent chance to get your car charged. I don't have a garage or OSP so it makes it neigh impossible to charge the car, aside from that it's a decent car. @kleynie Cheers! Got it retrofitted along with the matching carbon lip on the boot door.
@Farravi well if you keep it for another decade or so, they may have installed more charging points. Your comment regarding other users hogging charge points even when they have been fully charged highlights the limits of the practicality of EV's. At least you've still got your petrol engine to get to where you're going. I did consider buying Electric 4 years ago before I bought my 330d, but the expense and the restrictions in the number of charge points, made me quickly forget the idea. The politicians are constantly talking about the environment and switching to electric transport, but it's just not being backed up by funds and investment at the moment. In another 10 years . . . ? maybe.
Yeah maybe. On the other hand, Siemens has joined hands with another company called Ubtricity and together they are converting old lamps posts into ones with eV connections and all you need is to scan the QR code with you standard camera and it takes you to a web link where you can pay using your debit/credit card. These have been increasingly in every borough and even some where it’s for residential parking bays which means only local residents can take advantage off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
