Any one know what the above means ????

Code has changed to S815A Poor Road Package ????
Is it Uk compliant shock absorbers as opposed to ROW where roads are in better condition ??

With those 21's, you'll need it.

I thought they were all fitted with it - E70s aren't known for their comfort over bad roads! ;)

My 40d on 20s was pretty firm, so I can imagine 21s might be a step further. But probably no worse than my Z4 on 19s!

To be honest, the 21's was a concern, looks over function but think I was hanging onto my youth when the decision was made, allbeit it was made over much visual comparison.
I'll be coding the side view camera "On" all the time to protect them.
Worst case, I shall sell and revert to 19" / 20" wheels and hopefully pocket the profit.
Somewhere hidden in the spec list is standard suspension so that may help, on the basis it's m sport delete.

The rubber Spring pads as mentioned, perhaps it's thicker pads

I'm sure you'd do well if you sold them. Plenty of folk willing to pay top dollar for 21s even though the 20s are firm enough IMO.

The standard suspension will surely help with the 21s but see how boaty it is. My former boss specced an E70 with 19s and standard suspension and I always felt a bit queasy in it; it also didn't handle brilliantly. Whereas I never had a problem in my 40d with dynamic pack (m sport suspension & 20s) and handled like it was on rails (for such a big SUV). By comparison our X3 on SE suspension is an absolute barge which you have to slow right down for any sort of corner as it understeers and rolls a lot. Could be a lot to do with the 17" wheels, but it's not the car to take out for a sporty drive.

Sorry, don't want to put the kybosh on anything for you, but just to make you aware that it the SE suspension has both plus' and minus'. But it my be different with the 21s as they will obviously firm it up.

The rental (A3) is for speed, should be driven point to point like it was stolen, made more fun with its small, torquey engine, though realistically, were really growing on the small petrol!

The x5 shall be for comfort, whilst hoping for a silk carpet, I foresee it shall be more tufted rug.
I am one of few that have little complaint about the ride and feel of the GT, on, SE set up, rfts & 20"s so can't see the big lump causing too many concerns, Christ I hope I'm right!
It certainly wasn't bought to be ragged and thrown about, more sedate motoring!

Curiousity does have the better of and fear I shall give up, never knowing what the 815 code means.

So, I've just done a bit of searching on some German forums and basically this package effectively just raises the ride height. As was mentioned above, it has been available on other vehicles and the forum I read with the most information concerned the E36 and people who specced it did so in order to given them more ground clearance to avoid becoming a snow plough in the winter.

Certainly didn't have it on either of mine, so must give you an additional 10-20mm of ground clearance. Would be interested to see it parked side-by-side with another one without the option ticked.

Also, hate to send you to another forum but xDrivers is really very good for all things X5.

But I will happily try and help you with anything you come up with. The E70s really were two of my favourite cars; particularly the latest 40d LCI one, which really was an amazing all round package. There's a good bit of info in @Harry too, so do ask before heading over to xDrivers. :)

Interesting and makes sense the more I think about my E60 modding days
Converting and SE to m sport, whilst the springs and shocks were changed along with a thick Arb the option was their to change the coil Spring pads for thinner ones ........
Makes the rest of the spec list easy reading thanks
