We have an X4 2.0d 2016 on our fleet. The driver has brought it back whilst being on furlough as its long overdue to go back off its lease. There was a whistling noise when accelerating. To obvious (but apparently not to the driver) to send the car back and hope for the best, risking a BMW repair bill from the lease company. So it went to a garage we know. First we were told to refurb the turbo. Then they said the DPF is so blocked it had caused damage to the turbo, and they could see soot around the turbo. So they said we need to refurb the turbo and clean the dpf. The next day we were told we also need to clean the CAT. Now its all back together - no noise anymore, we are told the EGR valve has been damaged and needs replacing as its repeatedly through a fault code and going into limp mode. Call me cynical but what tomorrow - an engine ? Do any of you experts think this sounds plausible, the car drove ok, no noticeable drop in power, just the whistling noise. No fault codes or messages. Now with a clean DPF and working turbo the EGR valve is throwing a fault code all the time - why wouldn't it before hand ?
Cant help you with that I’m afraid but I know a man that could diagnose it and fix it in a heartbeat I’m sure. Are you anywhere near London??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ive not hard work done by them yet but have hard good things about BMW Workshop Leeds...its run by an ex BMW Master Tech....maybe worth a call ?
It’s a run but not to far Darren woods in bredbury Stokport are excellent top quality Bmw specialists All of mine have only gone there
Sorted now, but £700+vat. We are taking it up with BMW though as it was in for a recall on the EGR valve only 300 miles previously in mid Feb. Doubt we will get anywhere with them.
