Washed the E92 today and noticed that three of the alloys are showing early signs of corrosion around the centre caps. The only one that hasn’t is the near side rear.
Do these look like warranty items to you all? They were newly refurbished and shod with new tyres when I bought the car in late Sept 2018.

No idea. Assumed the car had been prepared by Sytners as wheels and tyres were as new.

I just thought if it had been done by anyone outwith the dealer network it could give them a reason to reject your claim.

You might have better luck then, but I suspect they'll say it's not bad enough to get them redone.......yet.

I imagine they might be bad enough to be down on the 1st October....just as the warranty has run out. Seems to have come in quickly. Wasn’t like that a few weeks ago.

When I tried to get mine done, they said when they take a pic of the wheel, they need to be able to see corrosion without zooming in. Hence only 1 of my wheels been changed. The others they have Agee’s to do when they are corroded enough but I’m not out of warranty so we will see if that holds up as they wouldn’t give me anything in writing.

Wheels still not corroded enough yet..

Had to take pictures and email the dealership. Then they asked me to leave the car for a day.
agreed to replace 1 of the 2 wheels affected. The new wheel from Germany arrived 2 months later.
all 4 have worming now, but I won't bother replacing and just refurb.
If yours have been refurbed, I would suggest you have very little chance of replacement.

I would say refurbed = straight no as not a warranty defect, I don’t know how you would stand AUC wise though as if they are still as they were when purchased. Failing that I wonder what warranty the company that carried out the refurb put on them.

I haven’t had the time to contact the dealer (Sytners) with work as it is. Will put this on the radar ASAP!
Don’t hold out much hope, but certainly worth a chat.

Found some corrosion on wheel of the wifes car. Strangely on one of the "spokes" not near the hub or near the edge of the wheel, car is 18 months old.

Called at dealer yesterday, wheel checked, confirmed it is corroded. New wheel on order

Like many on her i have car washing routine, and that includes me being the only person to wash our cars, two bucket method premium products etc, never allow dealers to wash them etc, so I know what products have been used on the bodywork and wheels etc.

I noticed this corrosion the other week, as I cleaned the wheels. Only the one wheel affected. Took some photos and last week when my own car was in for the EGR recall i showed the photos to the service advisor who agreed it looked like corrosion but obviously needed to see the wheel.

Yesterday we happened to be near the dealership that supplied the wifes car so called in, this is the third BMW bought from them. Explained the issue and the fact the wheels had never been refurbed, washed weekly etc.."oh yes we know you look after your cars", quick visual inspection. Yes its corroded, we will order a wheel and book it in. Took less than 10 mins.

But the corrosion is clearly visible about 5mm square in size.

    Fingers crossed for next week

IMO the response that you get in cases like this, is all down to the attitude and customer service of the particular dealership. Some are much better than others.

Well done - good result. (y)

Ths dealership doing the EGR on my car last week were fine, understandably they wanted to see the corrosion rather than rely on some photos. ZAs it's due a service in 3k miles we agreed to leave it till then.

This week we were in the vicinity of the supplying dealer (live eqi distance from both) so called in.

Will try and post some photos

Corrosion on the spoke at 4 o clock
Also something on the spoke at 2 o clock

Apologies for the dirty wheels, it's due a wash but I'm enjoying the Ashes cricket at the moment.

The wheel is completely smooth where the corrosion is, with undamaged lacquer etc

Wheel replaced today under new car without quibble.
Unlike another customer who was told his corrosion was caused by stone chips

    Good result.

I’ve been “invited” to take the car in for an end of warranty “Birthday” check up by Sytners. Will add the wheels to the list for checking.

The other 3 wheels also have worming on the X3 - seriously thinking a full refurb on all 4 when the winters go on.

I’ve booked the car in for an end of warranty check and MOT on the 19th Sept. Will ask the question about the wheel corrosion then.
