As the title says really, Interested to hear an owners thoughts / experiences on the car. Running it, niggles, servicing. Looking to purchase another car this year after selling my 330d. The 2 series coupe seems to be quite a car & the 35i gets high praise. mdx
Not exactly the question that you asked, however, my wife has a 225d and I reckon it's a cracking little car with enough grunt to make it fun to drive and steady enough for day to day use. The 35i must be a real beast. No niggles so far (touch wood).
Not sure they've been out long enough to know that have they? I test drove one last weekend, and I must say, it was a lot of fun.
Thanks zlinuk, glad to hear your enjoying your wife's 225d I'm in a position that I do not have to use a car as a daily drive, it's mainly weekend blasts/or rides for pleasure. I do drive to Europe every year so that's the sort of use it will get. For that reason I'm looking towards petrol & a 35i rather than diesel. Glad no niggles/ faults to report. Ninjagirl, yes you are quite right. It is still a relatively new car for owners to report faults. I however like to think that with a new model out if something is going to show its head it will do so fairly soon into ownership. Sounds like I've got to organise a test drive. Ed, (Cotswold BMW) Now that is exactly what I'd be doing to mine if I end up with one & the MPE / 19" alloys. Demo car you say !!! Hmmm interesting. Haha, your not far from Warwickshire! Thanks for the replays though, mdx
Thanks for the pics Ed, It does look menacing in the M body kit Ninjagirl, if you don't ask you never know!!!
I'm a member of another BMW forum that's sponsored by Elms BMW. Forum members get discounts on new and used vehicles: 1. New Cars (Both BMW & MINI) – A minimum of 8%-10% depending on model. 2. Approved Used – A minimum of £500 discount (depends on age of vehicle) 3. Parts & Accessories - A minimum discount of 15% on all parts and accessories 4. Service/repair labour rate - 10% -15% discount (dependent on age of car) To ensure it's a genuine discount you would obviously need to establish the vehicle price first then inform them you are a forum member!
I was in talks with the owner of BMW Enthusiasts about sponsorship before BMWLander was made. I'd take those claims with a pinch of salt ;)
I wondered that myself Ed so in January this year i asked for their current sponsor to provide me with their servicing costs for forum members. The prices they came back with at that time seem very reasonable: (costs includes both parts and labour for an F80 M3) Elms F80 M3 Servicing Costs @ 26 Jan 2016 Oil and Pollen Filter £145.73 Oil, Pollen, Sparks and Air £781.14 Vehicle Check Service £106.09 Rear Diff Service £50.04 Brake Fluid Service £75.06 Front brake pad service - carbon ceramic £519.56 Rear brake pad service - carbon ceramic £365.47 Do Cotswold BMW publish their servicing costs for forum members? thanks
It's only Cotswold parts that sponsors the forums but for the handful of members that have visited us I've always tried to give the heads up to the service team. For interest sake i'll get the above priced up to see how they compare
Oil and Pollen Filter £283.50 Oil, Pollen, Sparks and Air £932.88 Vehicle Check Service £100.03 Rear Diff Service £79.98 Brake Fluid Service £86.59 Front brake pad service - carbon ceramic £562.56 Rear brake pad service - carbon ceramic £395.63 The first 2 surprised me
Many thanks for checking this out Ed, i appreciate you getting hold of the costs. Can only assume that either the spark plugs are extremely expensive or it's a lengthy job... or both! The oil and filters are straight-forward. Just proves it pays to shop around. Thanks again
