Afraid I can't help you with that car and its history, other than to say that is a WHOLE lot of car for the money.

MOT history checks out clean and matches the miles:

it comes with a 3 month RAC warranty what could go wrong?

on a serious note.. they *believe* it has only partial service history and have priced accordingly. I think it's a good price. Mondial warranty is 1500 thereabouts. Even adding the price of the warranty this is cheaper than AUC.

As it's now 4 years old it'll be due a major service incl spark plugs (changed at every 2nd oil service). If not already done it will cost approx £900 at a main dealer

EDIT ... it appears it has a service pack

Drove it for a brief test drive. Love it. Though it didn't seem as quick as I was anticipating. The cold start is god awful loud though. Not sure I can live with that as most of my trips are short ish.

My mate has a 63reg M5 after his 535d got stolen, he's had it since last June. I had a few beers with him last Thursday and he was telling me he's thinking of selling as its a stupid car to have on the roads nowadays and just cannot be used, he is thinking of going back to a 535 or something similar. Also the 8mpg isn't helping with his lead right foot!

Think long and hard about this purchase and do not consider it to be a long term'er is what I say.

    Cheers Kleynie

Wise words, and is whats at the back of my mind too, having seen enough people complain that these cars are hard to shift. Not sure if orange-on-orange helps with that or not. I tend to keep my cars a long time (2 cars in last 10 years). I don't care about the MPG (at all - work from home, get a car allowance, and mileage paid for). What I don't want to end up with is a ball ache of a car that ends up with an engine problem. I can mitigate that with a warranty at £145pm, I guess.

Something i found odd with the m5 was that it didn't seem all that much faster than my 530i up to 45 mph which is really all i got to do in the m5.

I've discovered a few things that i could use to knock this car down on, so i may sit on it have a think and see what happens. If it gets sold so be it, they are hardly rare.

The M5 doesn't make any sense as regular transport, but I would like one just to hear that V8 exhaust note. :D It would be ideal as a long distance mile muncher (other than the number of fuel stops required). If the environmental activists get their way, cars like the M5 may disappear from the roads in the 'not too distant' future. If you want one, go for it. (y)

The cold start lasts no more than 20 seconds in my car and it settles down to a nice burble. I don't even pull of my drive until the cold start has finished, like I say, no more than 20 seconds. Sakhir is lovely but that interior is a bit "wow" lol,

You need to set the M2 button to steering in sport, and everything else sport+ with MDM mode and tell met it doesn't feel quick. Mine is bonkers fast in this mode. Absolutely ripped my mates E92 M3 a new arse the other day, pulled away like it was a 330i lol.

That car is crying out for the 20s as well but a lovely car. Love mine, to hell with the fuel economy though it is brilliant compared to my old V10.

Actually it's the interior that does it for me. I got back in my black with alu interior and thought **** me, it's like a hearse in here.

Someone's reserved it anyway, and tbh I was procrastinating too much that where there is doubt there is none. The universe decides. Etc.

Regarding the performance etc I didn't get a chance to play with any settings, apart from dampers it was all very rushed. Very short test drive. Also whilst I'm sure it's much much much faster to 40mph than my 530i the m5 was so much more effortless in gettingthere was no drama. I like a few revs, so perhaps that's what I mean rather than outright performance.

    lovely car though.
