Back in the UK for a flying visit and had to visit Royal Berks Hosp today. Their car park is a right royal pain but eventually came across a lady waiting to leave so stopped just on the pedestrian crossing to take her place. The stump in yellow is supposed to look like the bollard in green but it doesn't, does it?

Muggins here can't see the bloody broken bollard so drives over it - diagonally thank god otherwise it would have ripped my sump off. Sure enough an almighty crunch frightens the living daylights out of me and the results are below. Doesn't appear to be any other damage other than a broken sill. What a monumental pain in the arse, I've got to fly back tonight as well! :pissedoff:

Well, the bollard is faulty and could not be seen from where @The CO was. But maybe the parking company could argue the car shouldn't have been parked from that position.

I dunno. Might bw worth a shot, particularly if the car park is managed privately (as to not put any more burden on our NHS :)).

    What an absolute PITA! :(
We've all been there at some time or other, so commiserations @The CO

I would definitely try to claim some compensation from the parking company. Worth a try, anyway.
I hope that it's just the sill bodywork that needs replacing.

    I share that sentiment.

At least it's relatively easy to cure.

Hope the same for whoever or whatever you needed to visit the hospital, @The CO !

I know that car park. Almost impossible to find a space after 9.30 am and so tight to manoeuvre around.
From the height of the broken stump, it looks like just a sill replacement (fingers crossed)

Ouch. Hope its an easy fix. Did you let the car park staff know? I'd be asking them to put a cone or something over it so no one else does the same

sorry to hear! Hope not too costly to fix, will you be getting whole car detailed/protected or just the strip?

It's just so annoying and unnecessary, somebody could have at least knocked something up so that idiots like me don't run over the top of them :banghead:

I'll send an email to the trust but I don't anticipate any sort of meaningful response but if they at least mark it up so someone else doesn't run over it then that'll be something.

    GRRRRRRR!!!

From the photo it looks as though the bollards are just held down by 4 anchor bolts. All they had to do, was unbolt the base of the damaged bollard and it would have removed the hazard. Of course, that was probably too much like hard work - 10 mins with a spanner!

That's if they were aware that the post was missing/damaged.

It's probably covering a hole which they covered up with the bollard and not concrete ;)
