    Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello . It’s been just over 6 years since I last owned a BMW. The old BMWland was a great source of info and it’s sad that it ended the way it did.

My last BMW was a lovely E46 318ci sport in black with cloth/alcantara interior. Was very under powered but was economical and nice to drive. If pushing on it was a good feeling to feel the balance of the rwd through the twisties.

I sold that for a Alfa 159 which I owned for 4 years. Everything you ever heard about Alfa’s is true. Great car, lovely looker, comfortable and just the same as a high maintenance woman can really throw the odd temper tantrum!

I currently own a 2010 Merc E350 CDI coupe. Beautiful car, comfortable, fast, relatively economical but again has been unreliable.

Hence why I’m back here. I need a car I can rely on and could do with a bit more practicality. So....I’ve just agreed to purchase an approved used LCI 2016 F31 320d m sport with 20k miles and m sport plus pack. It’s estoril blue as well . I was bargaining on a 2015 model a few weeks ago but another sales person sold the car while I made up my mind! The dealer gave me a call yesterday to tell me about this car. It was only just in and hadn’t been cleaned or went through the approved used checks yet. I agreed a deal subject to approved used status and re-inspection and test drive. This time it’s not getting away!

I look forward to talking all things BMW with you all in the future assuming this all goes ahead.

Understood. I’ll get pics up as soon as I have decent ones. The car wasn’t prepped for sale when I viewed it so the pics are have are of a dirty car.

This is my current car. I can’t understand why it’s so difficult to get a buyer at a little over £7k. There’s only 85k miles. I’ve been trying to sell it now for nearly 8 weeks. Looks like I’ll be sending it to webuyanycar.com

    Hello.
Not a huge MB fan, but have always liked the look of the coupes, yours looks great in red, nice spec too.

I’m another 159 ex-owner. Had two a while back, one was faultless, the other gave up in the middle of France. Utterly fabulous cars when they worked well.

Hope the new BMW is a good one.

The 159 was a big disappointment in the end. I owned it for 4 years. Something would go wrong so I’d fix it. I’d be thinking what a lovely car and then something else would go wrong. It was nearly always suspension. I had the ti model with the big 2.4 5c derv and qtronic gearbox. Living on my country roads the suspension just couldn’t take it. I was constantly changing arms and wheel bearings. I went through 14 tyres in that time in just 60k miles! Nothing could be done with the alignment. If it was a small petrol I think it would have worked out better, I get the impression Alfa didn’t design the chassis for a big derv. I kept thinking through the whole ownership time to sell it and then I’d look at it!

I had the 1.9jtdm versions. One Lusso and one LE version.
The 2.4 was a consideration but I’d read a lot about the weight and relative lack of economy, I was doing 30K a year so couldn’t justify the expense.
The first one needed a new lower arm on each side, I upped the alloys to Ti spec, set the geometry to 0 and the tyre wear was sorted. Fronts lasted over 20k.
Had a GT Q2 in between the two 159s, absolute little cracker.

You can’t understand why you can’t get a buyer....?
You said yourself it’s not been reliable...
Mine was the same as yours but a cabriolet in black... 350 cdi..mine too was disappointing.... I would not buy another one from that era.. I personally believe MB. Have now got their sh1t together.. but this is maybe why you can’t shift it on..

I thought I was just unlucky. From what you are saying they all are like mine?

Anyway new BMW is now on the drive though too late to take pics. It’s approved used but the rear tints are too dark. Turns out the previous owner applied a tint over already tinted glass. The garage have said they’ll get an external contractor to call out to remove it. I’ll be holding them to it. Just looks like a dealers car at the moment.

Drives fantastic and I’m loving the Harmon Kardon. The stereo is almost worth the price of the car. It was dark when I got home. Spent an hour setting everything up and getting used to the operation of everything. Looking forward now to a few years at least with this car.

This is it! I washed it shortly after but the rain started! .

Also I couldn’t wait for the garage to sort the tints so I did it myself. Came off perfectly with a steam cleaner and patience. About 2 hrs start to finish including polishing after.
