Hi my BMW 320d xdrive 2013 30000 mile is juddering when driving I've rang bmw and they first said check the tyres to make sure they were bmw standard which they are cause I'd only got all 4 change not long ago with the BMW star rated tyres, then they said change the transfer box oil but I think by looking at some forums it the transfer box that broken and they only saying change the oil as the cars under warranty and itll cost a fortune to fix, do you think the oil change will help or are they just fobbing me off. Any advice would be grateful.
    Thanks In advance

    Welcome to the forum.

If it's under warranty then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Are there any fault codes at all? Have you taken the car into a dealership and asked shown them the symptoms?

Yes taken it into the dealership and they reckon the oil change will do the job but I don't just want to do the oil change then a week down the line having to take it back cause the transfer box has completely broke

Strange that it would need the transfer box oil changing after only 30k miles, unless it's been losing oil? If you car's still under warranty, I would be asking for a new transfer box.

Is that advice from a BMW main dealer or an Independent?

So do you not think an oil change will make any difference

A fluid change might make a difference, but then again it might not, as it depends on what the fault is. When does your warranty expire?
Auto transmissions generally respond well to a fluid change to keep them running well so you might get the same benefit with changing the transfer case fluid.

You could try a different dealer.

I've just taken another 2 years out at xmas. Going to try the next closest BMW dealer see what they come up with.

I think that post is about the transfer box, not the automatic transmission. I would be asking another dealer as well.
I can't say that I've ever seen any posts regarding changing the oil in the transfer box.
Is that the BMW Insured Warranty? If so, how did you take out cover for 2 years? I thought that it was only available on annual renewal basis.

I wasn't being clear - I meant that as auto boxes respond well then the transfer case might too.

I've just had a search on other forums and some people recommend changing the transfer box oil every 60k miles.
Possibly something that should be done when overhauling the automatic transmission?

You can't just suck the old oil out, you have to remove the transfer box and tip it upside down!
