"I'm sure you've all seen the news on launchpad already, the biggest news since the launch of the BMW i3 & BMW i8.... the BMW i5. Rumours have been going into overdrive recently about the drive-train being that of a saloon or an SUV, BMW being determined to break into the Tesla market. News on the web overnight has given us the biggest indication yet that the BMW i5 will be an SUV and we are likely to have a definitive concept design by Spring 2016. I've attached the most recent pictures! In other news, the long rumoured BMW i8 Spyder that we all thought was a dream?? The new concept is being unveiled in Las Vegas in January 2016, with new rumours circulating that is has been confirmed for production. Dates on this have not been released, and any technological upgrades have.. as usual.. been kept secret!" taken from an email I received this morning
yeah i guess wish they would stop all the nonsense with different coloured panels. Reminds me of the Harlequin Polo
Doesn't do anything for me either, and I dread to think what the OTR will be given that the i3 is over 30k.
one thing i would say about hybrids. And this is personal experience, having two in our fleet, mines been in 4 times, is now on a long term test (back with me for 2000 miles) with an open ticket with porsche Germany. The other has been in for around 8 weeks. And looks like the solution is on the horizon. A friend bought the first i3 in leeds for his company - they have issues and has the same experience.... ...the dealers and the OEM don't know how to resolve issues, they have admitted problems are solved though historical feedback throughout the world. New tech = no feedback therefore no clue. We were offered to return our cars to Jct for a full refund, once we contacted the big man himself. After a big meeting we agreed to wait and let them resolve the issues as we could see that JCT at least were trying to sort, and at the end of the day we adore our cars. When they work. I actually said, theres only one car i would have instead (without going crazy), and I sold it in June. My personal feeling is, we are guinea pigs. Wait 2-3 years. As for the i5 it has as much charisma in its looks as the car on Breaking Bad.
It has a fussy look to it imo. Not very BMW-like. But maybe it just takes time to get used to.... Maybe.
