2012 E92 with business nav etc. Has the most up to date media software and 2018/2 map update.
I haven’t subscribed to the BMW connected service so don’t have the data capacity in the car, so tried many many times to use the Bluetooth data connection with my phone, no joy.
When updating the services it connects and uses the hotspot on my iPhone XR perfectly, but won’t connect with the online services. Same with the works Android phone. Have been through all possible settings and configurations but no joy.
I know I’m not missing the worlds greatest experience, but I have it and want it to work...

    Am I missing anything obvious?

I’m pretty sure the on line services only work with the on board SIM that you need to subscribe to. But I wouldn’t bother as it’s useless to anyone who has a smart phone.

A good point, I wasn't that fussed with the ConnectDrive I had on the F30, however, as I said, it is an option that is apparently supposed to connect through the data of the bluetooth connection. I've set all the options as per the user guide but it won't connect. Probably an older setting that won't "talk" to the newer phones.
Certainly not paying the £120 a year for the connected services....

6 month subscription is £85. £140 for the year. Have been through the ConnectedDrive site, seems there isn't a lot I can do with my old 2012 car! I liked the facilities I had on the 2013 F30, remote locking, sending sat nav details, setting heated seats etc.
Oh well, I shall enjoy the car as is then.

Happy with the new DAB unit I added. :D

Are you sure you cannot send the sat nav details via the app? I could even do that with my old 2007 E61.

Messing with the app and I can get this message. Will see what happens when I’m in the car tomorrow. Might see if I can set the nav via BT or the usb.

I've ended up going with a six month subscription, see if it is worthwhile. Always like to have a bit to tech to fiddle with....
The remote lock and location doesn't work at the moment, it should do, called the technical helpdesk and there is an issue with the system for a large number of users. He was actually quite helpful, sent me a new update "how to" for setting a Gmail account up to the car.

I’ve now got lock/unlock remote working from the app, locate my vehicle and send nav directions.
Seemed to take some time to update but all seems good now.

It is now on my drive. In a physical and technological sense.

What happens when you select the 'INFO' button on the app?

Do you get the average speed, fuel consumption and mileage?

In the last 20K miles I got it to work - once. :(

The locking and locating works fine, and as @pinewood says the sending a destination to the car Sat Nav is the best feature.

    I use that a lot.

Much more limited features on mine. I’ve got a 2012 car with the older CiC system, not the newer NBT systems in the 2013+ cars.

    This is what i see:

Well I have NBT and that’s all I see as well.

Interesting. The 2013 F30 I had gave more options, from my memory. Must be down to the specifics of the car and options.

Does the “current mileage” work for any of yours? Just shows — on mine.

No current mileage and my car is well spec’ed so not sure your theory about options is true? I have pretty much everything.
