I have entered into the X5 world again after having a E53 30d sport for 12 years , F15 40d M sport for 2 years and now a E70 30d se not one to keep them standard I am looking for advise on fitting a set of 20/21" alloys as it is a Se it hasnt got the extended arches like my old F15 , what can I buy to use the bigger wheels staying with oem parts ? Also looking at retro fitting M sport seats as they are very basic what problems will I run into ? I am also on the look out for the BMW tow eyelet bike rack as I dont want to fit a towbar as the car is mainly for transporting the dog ? thanks in advance sid10
The rear will need the arch extensions 51710007390 that bmw did which are essentially a strip of plastic that screws to the wheel arch to take the level out. In general though the 21 inch wheels have a big (most say negative) impact on the handling which judging by your other thread is the reason you didn’t like the F15 so I suspect you will be disappointed with them.
Hi markyboyt thanks , I have tried realoem.com for retro fitted parts but no success yet . The 21" wheels did effect the F15 but more down to tyres , I had Dunlop`s on to start with but replaced them with Pirelli`s that tram lined terribly but had style 467M 19" winter tyres from November which stopped tramlining but not body roll or bouncyness if that is a word . The E70 rides more like the old E53 , however I tried the G05 in 30d M sport form and the wife was car sick after 10 minutes the 50d has different suspension so I think in the new year we are going to try that .
