    Hi guys, my coolant light came in this morning so needs topping up. I looked for bmw approved coolant but does anyone know what coolant will of been put in the car from new? 2007 320d M Sport.
    I’ve heard mixing the wrong coolants together is a big no no.
    Any thoughts would be a great help.
    Thanks

    Welcome aboard :wavey: Unless it's never been out of the Dealership network in that time [Service record ought to show], then it will have been changed [or should have been!] in the interim. so any stuff could be in there now.

    I'm sure Ed @Cotswold BMW will be able to tell you what should be in there, and quote to supply. :thumright:

    If you can get the BMW stuff I would use that - if you can't get to a dealership I have used the Comma G48 without problems for a number of years

    As mentioned, it depends what’s in.
    Dealer option is......
    Ultimately you have don’t have to go to the extravagance, more important is identifying the colour red or blue then topping up with the same colour. This can be bought from motor stores much cheaper (I’d almost suggest you have red antifreeze, have your partner stick finger in the reservoir whilst you look at colour of drips)
    It’s highly unlikely you have green......

    I thought BMW factory fill changed from blue to red some time in 2018?

    Seems that the magenta (red) HT-12 antifreeze has been discontinued and is now green

    Yes, as above but most cars will have the blue bottles (£10 a bottle)

    The colours in the diagram aren't all the accurate, they look like this in real life;

    It's got very complicated. Looks like you can mix BMW blue, green and red as long as it's not the wrong sort of blue or red! (But I guess not many people will come across i3 Blue). I shudder to think what colour it might end up though. Brown?
