Although I do like to give the car a good detail, I sort of have no tenacity towards completing paint correction, only preventative care more so.

So I messaged a detailer and was quoted 450, not broken down in terms of what I’m getting for that price but would also need the car for 5 days.

Has anyone else ever had their car done, is this about the going rate? I know it will be more of a X5, the size of it!

I had my Audi Q5 done by a company in Witney called Pinnacle detailing. It depends on what is needed. Choose...
    https://www.pinnacledetailing.net/newcardetail
    https://www.pinnacledetailing.net/enhancementdetail
    https://www.pinnacledetailing.net/correctiondetail
    Followed by:
    https://www.pinnacledetailing.net/ceramiccoatings
Audi paid me cash (£650)t o get it done because they screwed up the paint finish trying to get swirl marks and scratches out. It was an Audi management vehicle that I purchased with 3900 miles on the clock.
    @aldo
If they are charging £450 inc. That would be a good deal IMO.

The concept of using abrasive to grind off the surface of my paint doesn't appeal to me. I would rather have the deepest layer of protective paint covering on my car even if it means suffering a bit of orange peel.

I asked the same question a while back, Olli was another who simply stopped posting without notice (as was their right, of course). Brocky is another, but iirc he got married so perhaps altered priorities? :?

Aaaanyway, back to detailing . Back in the mists of time when I first got the E39 (and before I acquired the gear to DIY it) , I got it detailed and iirc it cost me c £450 - that was with the chap using Zymol Royale as the last stage of the job. That was a hugely expensive product (still is, Google it) but before the days of ceramic coatings etc which have largely superceded those types of waxes redundant for the 'average' owner.

I'd want to know what I was getting for the money, but a 5 day detail ought to be very comprehensive as GR says. @aldo - have a look on https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=40246 to see if there are any reviews of his work. Is he close to you? Did he ask for photos or a report on the current state of the paintwork etc?

If you break down the cost over 5 days, assuming he allocates (say) 30 hours on your car, that = £15 per hour, not a lot for an experienced operator....

We got a 3 month old Mini Cooper SD a couple of years age and it looked perfect in the showroom but I wanted a full paint correction and ceramic coating done. I used a company called Brotek in Lanark. Cost was £650, Mark had it for 5 days but I couldn’t believe difference, it was stunning and there is no way I could have achieved that level of finish. The car goes there once a year now for a full proper valet and check of the coating with any issues corrected for a fixed cost of £60. £650 felt like a lot of money but it has been well worth it for us.

Wow. I have just had a quote for £600 for everything when my X1 arrives and that includes taking the wheels off and all the glass to.
Sounds as though the word Macan and Porsche jacks the price up!

Is that including G Techniq ceramic coating?

my mate just paid £1800 to have his Macan done.

my total bill was £1300 in the end as I had some leather correction as well.

I wouldn’t bother with the glass it lasts about 5 minutes!
I think I had a different product as it has a 9 year warranty. They removed all the badges and refitted them afterwards and it included the wheels and inside the arches, suspension.

It probably required a fair bit of correction too as it was two years old and 11k miles.

The Audi Q5 that I traded in had the full works 2 years ago by the company I quoted and when I took it to the BMW dealer they were amazed and said get that done to your new X1.
    It really was/is that good.
    I think it is!
    See:
    https://www.pinnacledetailing.net/testimonials
    The Audi Q5 was mine.

And there was me being pretty chuffed with the Autoglym LifeShine that came with my E92.
It’s the best paint job and protection on any car I’ve owned. Can’t imagine what the stuff you lot have done must be like.
