So the general purpose car in the family is a Q5 I got it for a good price and very low miles it still looks new inside but it’s an 09 plate bought in January of this year. it has full service history except for the whole of 2018 (didn’t realise at the time) and had a late service in 2019 minute I paid for the extended warranty as I wanted the whole peace of mind thing.. rewind a week Gearbox malfunction message comes on the dash the wife didn’t remember the exact message just says something popped up and it’s back to normal. Anyhow message comes up when I’m driving it and I’m thinking ********** sake she says oh yeah that’s the message So go online book it into Audi it’s a £60 fee to fault find which I think is pretty damn good! And a day later I get a call saying its a mechatronic failure and we can’t find your car for warranty.... oh *#*#*#*#*# I give them the policy number and great off they go only to call back and say we can only find part of your service history have you got the rest of it *cue seeing nothing for 2018* thinking the worst now I send them the pic of the sole 2019 receipt from the previous owner and I look in the corner my wallets crying, the BMW service book is mocking me I am preparing for the worst.. 20mins later I get an email video from Audi with the details of the problem and some other bits and a note saying warranty is picking up the bill they are also covering the diagnostics and diagnosis as well Dealerships of all brands seem to get a battering but I have literally nothing but praise for the one local to me they seemed to have fought my corner and got me a result seeing as this was the first time I have ever been there it’s a big thumbs up. good dealerships they exist folks
Totally agree Especially as if I need to have it done on the M6 I get this charge! BMWfaultdiag by Brian McGinty, on Flickr
Is it more complicated to plug a lap top into an M series / Range Rover than cars ? I could perhaps understand with RR / LR, given the long list of fault codes that will undoubtedly be generated !
The £60 is a standard 30 minute diagnosis charge that VAG have introduced. It won’t always be £60 as if they need to spend more time diagnosing it then they will at their full hourly labour rate. Glad it’s being covered though, mechatronics generally are with extended warranty. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
