Personally I haven't felt the need for an IDP for the last 30 years or so - and have found that the authorities everywhere are happy enough to accept a UK photocard licence - even if they are on the list of countries that require an IDP That may change of course as feelings are high. I'm pleased to see that the 1968 version lasts for 3 years. It's a low-tech cardboard covered booklet that looks exactly like it comes from the 60s.
