In between watching the Goodwood Revival and the 6th round of the DTM on TV today I decided to go for the lazy man's method of sprucing up the car. It still had a few flies and tar-spots left from the 2600 mile journey to Bosna as I only gave it a quick wash on arrival to get rid of the dust and most of the flies which start to smell awful if left for any length of time. So first a rinse off with plain water then a quick going over with AG Shampoo and Conditioner. Quick was all that was needed as owing to the CarPlan No.1 Polish applied back in the Spring, road crud just glides off. Not so the tar spots, so the lower panels, boot and back bumper were given a spray of AG Tar Remover - wait a few minutes and then wipe off - job done. Next it was a spray of AG Magma to get rid of any iron particles - again a 10 minute job no more. Then another rinse with plain water before going over the entire car with Simoniz Waterless Car Wash - no chance I'd ever use it as per the instructions on the bottle - but it's a great (and cheap) detailer. To finish off I went over the whole car with the aforementioned CarPlan No.1 stuff. Absolutely no hard rubbing or buffing was needed at all - but I used no less than 8 microfibre cloths. I forgot to mention that I cleaned the engine bay last week as it was full of dust and flies from 8 countries. Going on previous years experience with these products todays work will see me through to Springtime. All it should need till then is washing with Snowfoam AG Polar Blast and perhaps AG Aqua Wax afterwards. I'm very happy with the results. I'll probably give the roof another CarPlan No.1 treatment when I get home and have removed the big roof-box which does get in the way a tad
This is something that I'm getting ever more confused about so please put me out of my misery - what the heck is this snow foam stuff all about??? Honestly, I have no idea!
I use snow foam it loosens the dirt. My wife also uses it on the decking ?? thought it was going down quick but my fault for showing her how to use the jet-wash.
Indeed as @Alan Gunn says, you spray it on the car as part of a pre-wash stage. You need a special lance for the pressure washer to mix/apply it. You spray it on and leave it to dwell for a few minutes. As it does so it lifts the surface contaminants. You then rinse off with a pressure washer and then continue your wash with a suitable mitt and two bucket method with grit guards. By using the snow foam and a safe hand washing method you minimise the marring/swirling/holograms you get in the paintwork caused by poor washing regime.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words - so here are several pictures. https://www.google.com/search?q=sno...HeXpAq4Q_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1366&bih=625&dpr=1 I started off like many others several years ago using the ValetPro foam, but have since changed to AutoGlym Polar Blast. If you have a well treated/protected shiny car often the snowfoam is pretty much all that is needed to get 90% of road crud off. I find that I still have to deal with the insect debris and tar-spots of course. My yesterday's clean up would have started with a snowfoam treatment except for the fact that I didn't have any available here in BiH.
No, it helps protect the paint from being scratched when it is washed. Many people just drag a wet cloth over their cars without realising that they are creating micro-scratches. Using a proper washing regime helps to minimise these, which means a better shine and appearance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve used AG Polar Blast on my F32 and can confirm it isn’t a gimmick. Does a great job of loosening the vast majority of the dirt prior to a rinse.
I bought a DI Vessel earlier this year and can say it could be the best thing i have bought for washing/detailing etc. Can really recommend one, no water spots at all, and means in summer do not need to rush around like a looney before it dries its self. Also means I can give car a quick foam and blast then rinse with DI and walk away - for a quick clean.
Another vote for AutoGlym Polar Blast, its great stuff! I’ve recently started using the ‘multi-mitt’ washing method, rather than the ‘2 bucket’ method. I use one mitt for roof, windscreen and rear window (which i then set aside to do door-shuts later, one for bonnet and front bumper (set aside for wheels later), one for each side of car, and one for back of car. A quick wash can be done in under an hour; snowfoam (dwell time 10 mins), multi-mitt wash, rinse and then Meguairs hybrid wax, extra rinse and then dry…
