Two absolutely stonking cars that would happily be parked on my drive if the bank account allowed. If absolutely pushed I’d go for the M550i https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-features/2020-bmw-m550i-vs--alpina-b5/43370
Prefer the look of the M550i... but undoubtedly the depreciation will be far less for the Alpina. Have never been a fan of those Alpina spoked wheels.
Ditto, I think in general the alpina styling is always a bit old man ish plus I don’t like the wheels they insist on. Shame because the cars are rockets.
When you can buy an almost new 540i xdrive for half the price unless you are happy (wealthy enough) to take the big hit in depreciation then the M550i seems rather pointless to me. No doubt the M550i and B5 are both fabulous cars so heart over head may rule.
...or possibly economise and get a B3 instead https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/alpin...ina-b3-saloon-hits-tokyo-with-457bhp-pictures
Very true, however, waiting three years until the M550i has plummeted in value would also be a good move. Similar to me buying my 440i for 58% of its original price when it was three years old.
I was talking about the actual purchase price on my car. Agree that the MRRP is usually a starting point for discussion...
