    Hi,

Need new summer rubber as my PS4's are shot, looking at prices I have decided to look at other options as a full set of the above fitted is £630 where the PS4's are £723 with the cuurent cash back deal for 4. Anyone with other recommendations welcome or info if fitted the above.

    Thanks as always

    Peter

Can't speak for the specific tyre number, but I've run Falkens in the past and never had any complaints/problems with them.

    Made in Japan iirc.

I ran Falkens on my Alfa GT, gave them a reasonably hard time and they were excellent. Gripped well in all weather and wore well.
Can’t remember the model number I’m afraid, but did sound similar to the one you are looking at.

Have used Falkens on several occasions and they've been really good, never had any problems, the JDM crowd seem to love them...

I had FK452s on my old E36 which were good. I remember them being a staple on the old 'Land.
I'm a bit nervous about budget/midrange tyres now though, after my recent experience with Nexen.

My experience of Falken's was not very good although that was a few years ago on my Honda Accord Type S Tourer. Grip, especially wet weather, was poor and they wore out quickly. They were replaced with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport (2's at the time I think) They were night and day better in all respects - for the sake of £100 for a full set I would go with the Michelin.

Thanks for the info but that sounds like a few yrs ago & things have moved on in tyre tech land. It's actually a £200 difference but you claim back £100 from Mich on the deal for 4 19's

Agreed it was a few years ago although I understand PS4 are very good.

FWIW I do remember that a number of BMW stalwarts on the old forum, who owned cars like M3s and M5s, saying things like "they are the best tyres I've ever had." They were certainly night and day better than the Pirelli P7s I had on before them.

Although I haven't any experience of the Falken tyres, for the sake of £100 difference for a whole set I would go with the Michelins as a known quantity. Also Michelins do tend to wear well in my experience.

I remember that time as well, I tried the Falken FK452 on my E91 330d, after using the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. The Falken worked well, suited the suspension setup I had fitted to the E91. Car was sold with them fitted, would have gone for another set, as they were good in the wet, like the GS-D3.

I ran the FK 452’scon my old M5. They were a good tyre. Took some punishment at the Ring on multiple occasions with a lot of heat cycles put through them.

Currently use PS4S but wouldn’t say no to Falkens again
