    Hi all

    2014 F11 520D 190,000 mls.

I am begining to get a few fault lights now.

I have a small reader (Bimmer Tool + Carista) but as the lights are always temporary ( either go off after a minute or so or after ignition off/on) which means I cannot read them. Does the ECU hold history of fault codes that a more advanced machine could read. I am thinking of taking to my local BMW Indy but no point if history is not available.

I often get the 'DriveTrain' one but have also had a transmission one recently.

    Grateful for all responses.

Once displayed codes should be logged and therefore readable unless cleared, ISTA should be able read them, although I thought that Carista would too..

How old is the battery.....common issue is an old battery causing various warning lights to randomly trigger !

Certainly worth popping a multimeter on the battery. Even a slight drop in voltage can and does cause spurious warnings.

Anything below 12.45 volts would be a weak battery. The one on the Alfa was showing 12.5 when I measured it, showed in sluggish starts. Bought a new one and made a big difference.
I checked the car was charging the battery before replacing.
