How to transfer your cherished / private plate

    Best plate I ever had I bought from a retired driving instructor, is was fitted to my Merc E63 V8

    Some folks really do have crackers of numbers.

    I remember clearly being envious of long ago was 1 UPU which was illegally spaced on a local businessman's M-Benz - it's still around town every day - the number that is - on a much newer Benz nowadays.

    But I don't think I would want that on my car now.

    My cousin has 900 F on his 2nd Ferrari - a 328 which hasn't been seen the light of day for 10 or 11 years.

    Both are/were an investment - I guess both the car and the numberplate are worth much the same

    the plate that Steve Parish owned for years but put up for sale a few years ago was one that slipped through the net

    he had a Merc with PEN 15 on it misspaced to read PEN15

    I saw a plate some time ago that was on the front of a Golf that read DO5 IT GO. (DOS IT GO), but on the rear it was correct as DO 51 TGO.

    Presumably the person who had it thought he/she might get away it, because you would do a double take as it went past and then look at the rear and it would be fine. Also I suspect you would hope to be OK with the police when they sat behind you.
