This forum is probably one of the most important on the site! I need your suggestions to make it work so please, fire away. Categories and forums are easy, the technical stuff is a bit more of a challenge but as long as it's within reason I'm sure something can be done. Thanks!
I've had a look around and think you've done a remarkable job. A sub forum in the technical section for how to guides, I'm sure your members can file dump to create a comprehensive library. The obligatory forum membership to assist with running costs, Recruit a board to assist in the running Perhaps a legal disclaimer to protect yourself and the forum from unscrupulous claims against copyright and patents etc. Otherwise hats off to you!
A small thing, but can we assume more 'smilies' will be available in due course? Otherwise, as Sean said...."Very well done"
What could be useful is a 'glossary' for BMW specific and other technical, motor related words and terms (LCI, 'regen' etc etc). When I was new to BMW and started reading the forums on BMWLand I was often non the wiser because of terms and abbreviations etc I had not heard of before. Of course you can always Google, but it would be nice to find the answers at 'one stop'.
Just a thought! This might be a little early as a proposal, but is it possible to make subsections of the X3 forum to prevent both variations getting jumbled up and someone having go through the posts to separate them out at a later date? Naturally this will happen to other series vehicles! - X3 (E83) First Generation (2003–2010) - X3 (F25) Second Generation (2010–present) There will be a Third Generation (Pending for 2017) (G01). This could wait until the day it arrives.
You mean something like this: http://www.bmw.co.th/th/en/general/bmwinsight/technologyglossary.html I have it bookmarked, but it might be a good idea to have it as a forum stickie.
Thanks for attending to the above Admin. I like both the glossary as well . I am afraid some us are creating work for you at an early stage. Still this is the best time to do it if you have time.
Sorry more work! Is it possible to have a subforum to post about products that people use to wash/wax/seal/protect their vehicles? Also to include users recommendations for particular products purchased on and off line. This is where someone would ask what product one would use to seal their wheels against salt and corrosion. Also, perhaps another subforum for recommendations for small/minor body repairs and dents? I ask because I recently had my passenger door dented by a yoof in a Sainsbury's car park and found a guy who completely removed a dent for £20 in 10 minutes. A real bargain and definitely somebody whom I would recommend in my local area.
GunRunner, thanks. I'll probably create a Detailing category but create a sub-forum in 'Technical Troubles' for dings, etc. Good ideas though, keep 'em coming!
@GunRunner Forgot to add that you should be able to create your own thread in Technical Troubles' for your bodyshop bits. Alternatively you can recommend your dent man in Dealer and Trader experiences. Cheers.
Someone had access to BMW Land to update the front page message -- is it worth asking who ever did that can now update the message and ref this site ?
