I've been thinking @Peter would be the first to report, but we've got snow on the tops this morning.

I hate the prospect of Winter arriving.

I know how you feel - my motorcycle is now put away for he winter, wrapped up in its nice cosy cover. :)
Gone are the days when I used to ride in all weather, including snow and ice.

I think I posted when we had our first snow over a month ago, in mid September.

Yes, we have snow on the mountains over here today. Snow line is quite low, the sort of level that means the A82 (over Rannoch Moor), snow will be down to the road. Same for the A9 over Drumochter, with the snow line I see in our Glen.

Went out this morning, temperature dropped to 2.5C as I left the village. :( Was out raking leaves this afternoon and there was sleet in the air.(n)

I believe John…. :D I never took any pictures either, but assure you each shower going through today dumped more snow on the tops.

Here we go - Fair is foul and foul is fair: Hover through the fog and filthy air.

A really filthy day here in Aberdeenshire- started off this morning with temperature of 3 degrees, and finished up with thunder, lightening and heavy hailstones the size of peas.

Took a quick pic of the car with it's Winter 17" wheels and ContiWinterContacts.

There's real snow forecast for us tomorrow, but the snow gates are already closed on several mountain roads and passes such as the Cairn o' Mount and Cockbridge to Tomintoul.

I'm picking up some 18" winters on Sunday from High Wycombe and will hopefully get them fitted that evening. It'll be the first chance I get.

The wheels are style 415 - modern turbines with Pirelli Sottozero rubber, 5mm tread at the front and 7mm at the back. Bargain at £490!

Oh ye of little faith. :D This morning at 8.30, windscreen frozen solid. [Although it did clear once the sun got onto it.] Note the ice on the path/steps - I'll have to be careful until I steal some grit from the yellow bin.......:whistling:

    IMG_20181027_080905.jpg

And this a bit later, mid morning[ish] once the cloud cleared off the tops

    IMG_20181027_102039.jpg

The fields are green only where the sun got to them. Forecast for overnight is -6o but bright, then getting a get milder [Hah!] for the first half of next week.

Apologies for the poor, belong standard of the phone pics.....

I have mixed feelings about the arrival of snow. Being a keen photographer it opens up a whole load of new opportunities, however it means getting to some of the places is difficult, if not dangerous.
I love my trips up to Scotland, and would love to go the nature reserve I use when it was snowing, but the journey up across the A69 would probably take days rather than hours
