What a charming young woman [not!], sounds like she kicked his car too :redcard:, whilst shouting down her phone - who said women aren't good at multi-tasking.....

This ^^. I must investigate why my rear-facing one seems to have gone on strike :banghead:

Its a mobius, had for awhile 5+years , front and back, small and discreet, its good but for sure there a better now though. I am not keen on ones with screens on, although they do have an advantage of instant play back.

Hmm, might need some CSI to work out who was to blame there.
I'd like to think in that situation even without the camera it would have been quite clear who was to blame based on their directions of travel but the camera has certainly took any argument out of it and also prevented any counter argument regarding his speed.

She was clearly in shock after the accident, but really, I think she may need to reassess her communication skills.....
The more is see this sort of thing the more I’m minded to buy and for a dash cam.

It's for this reason I have a dashcam front and rear - in case some plonker drives into me!

My only issue is deciding which one.....there are thousands...! Want to have one that can easily (?!) be hardwired into the E92 without having to rewire the car so to speak. Don't really want a screen as these seem to be quite distracting to me.

Iirc, BMW do their own one(s) - I'm sure someone here had a retro-fit job done. Perhaps Ed @Cotswold BMW can advise?

Funnily enough I’ve just been looking at these on eBay! The latest version looks decent, the description states not an end user install, service dept only. Hmmm.

The BMW i3 had the right of way, and no chance of avoiding the accident - fortunate to record it on camera.

I assume that the young woman with the attitude was the driver of the black car. Amazing how she thinks that she was the innocent party. It really shows how essential a dash cam is. The days of anyone accepting any blame are long gone - people lie through their teeth.

You have to feel for the owner of the parked car.

If she hadnt had a dash cam the other insurance company (not just the driver) would likely have said she was speeding and that helped the accident happen - 50/50 and she loses her excess and premium hike at renewal.
Trust me i know. This is what the other guys insurance said about my crash, I presume because its a Porsche they assumed i was speeding, as did every passer by, my dash cam showed i wasn't.
Also the insurance companies don't want a legal battle, they will settle 50/50 to keep their potential costs down rather than battling for their client - regardless of how the client argues this, they ultimately make the decision.

Definitely feel for the owner of the parked car, but the insurance company of the one that hit it will pay for that and then re-claim from the other car that caused it. I hit 1 parked car (with someone sat in it -hence why I will not put the video up) , the next two inline also had damage as they shunted. He was checked out and was ok, but he did go back to the police and said I was speeding, even after saying to my biz partner and me that he was reading and didn't know anything about it. He said this before he knew i had dash cam evidence of him with his head down. So people do think of ways to nail someone or get their claim up or in their favour.

For £50-£100 its worth it and less than your excess.
