So if I decide to upgrade I was considering a car with laser lights or though they are few and far between. Does anyone have the option and if so what do they think? Having watched several youtube comparisons it would appear that they are not much better than the leds despite the huge cost involved at build. Obviously either would be an upgrade from my active xenons

    Thanks

With the spec on the G22 I was on/off with the visibility package. This includes the new laser lights as well as adaptive etc. Given how good the LED lights are on my current F32 I really don’t see the need for the upgrade to lasers. The only reason I want the package is for the much smarter DRLs, but £1500 is a lot to pay for this. So I didn’t bother.

Thanks for the info as I said the reviews for the laser's against the led's weren't convincing infact even BMW's led's fell short of the matrix type fitted on other cars

I know that @mystic sport optioned the laser lights on his G80, he will hopefully have some feedback on how effective they are.

They are pretty good on dark country lanes

Lasers push the beam further over 40mph and they are very good. The matrix cutoff voodoo is epic. It was good in my M5 but my M3 is even better. Also I love the blue bits in them and the DRLs look better

I would always option them in an M3 or M4 as it is almost expected that should be fitted. Not so sure if that is the case on other models.

Have to say that no lasers is a deal breaker for me if I buy a second hand car in the future.

My mother in law's partner has lasers on his M135i. I will ask him what he thinks of them.

    Of course John..
When I started out in a Vauxhall Viva
Candles would have been more impressive … and I’m 54..
Nowadays I can’t remember the last time I really ‘drove’ on a section of unlit road…. not like guys up in the real northern hemisphere
Laser lights would just be a massive overkill for the M1 at night or the north wales expressway maybe…

My son has a 1952 LR Ser 1 , to check if headlights are on you get out and walk to the front of the car.

I dont consider the LED on my X1 f48 to be as good as the adaptive zenons on the prev X1 e84,

Maybe not a scientific approach, however we recently had 2 MINI Countrymans as loaners, one with and one without laser option.

Her in doors, from driving the two straight away noticed the difference. So I would say they are better!

My first car as a student, many years ago, ws a 1950's VW Beetle. It had a 6 volt electrical system and headlights that were equivalent to a couple of candles. How things have changed, :D
