I'm bit hard broken but after been informed both my front 20" alloys have cracked now professionally repaired I'm looking for new wheels to fit my 4 series and not sure which size to go for, after endless hours on wheel tire size comparison sites if I go down to 19" I'm only gaining 9mm in side wall high on front compare to my current setup and on rear I will actually loose 8mm, I'm not fun of the 18" and I think will just ruin the look of the car. When I spoken to the chap who repaired the alloys he did say they both have old cracks and looks like something hit the inner side of rim as there is curbing, I know that the pervious owner fitted smaller width tires and looked bit stretched so wonder if this could contribute to the damage, I am fully aware that 20" are lot easier to buckle and crack but I do wonder if that 9mm side wall difference will make big improvement and lost at the same time.

Looking at my options if I go with 19" I can choose 442m or 704m and 18" 400m, now all this opens up another debate of trusting sellers that the wheels are nice and straight unless they willing to go and put them on balancer at my cost or I could fully refurb my current 20" and hope won't crack to soon, one thing I know for sure is I don't need membership at wheel repair centre .

    What would you do???

What tyre sizes are your 20’s? you shouldn’t lose any sidewall height dropping to a smaller rim otherwise the rolling circumference would be a mile out.

I’m finding the 19” wheels on my F32 a good mixture of looks and ride comfort, even running on Bridgestone RFTs. Standard fit sizes all round.

On my old E92 I ran the 313 style allows (maybe 303?) with RFTs. I was told they are made of cheese and will crack. Two years and many thousands of miles and they were still as good as new, mainly down to my pot-hole seeking radar, otherwise known as eyes.

@Wynne71 I think I would have to agree that the 19" suits the car better then 18", I don't mind how the my current 20" feels when driving, harshness don't bother me at all.

Look ok to me. Worth asking how much to add TPMS.
One thing to watch with those wheels, same as mine, is the possible corrosion on the diamond cut front faces. I’ve had one re-cut under warranty and have another that will need doing after the winter.
Maybe ask for some hi-res photos and zoom in to have a look. They seem to start around the centre cap.

Wheels are about 40 min drive from me so most likely will view in person before parting with cash, for me fitting TPMS would be just cost of the part and get friend of mine to fit them but I think with out the TPMS the price is a bit on high side.

I know the same seller have 442m wheels for sale, which model was actually from the 4 series 442m or 704m?

    Does anyone know

The 442 are the pre-LCI 4 series wheels, the 702 are post facelift, like on mine in the photo above.
