Make that 63 My wife had a 2019 polo with the 3 cylinders 999cc TSI (95 bhp) Polo SE with an auto gearbox. We traded it in along with our 67 plate Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI Sline for a BMW X1 2020 LCI 2.0i M Sport when we dropped down to one car.
64 now.... Weird that BMW doesn't make a direct competitor for the A1 , 1 series is really an A3 competitor, you would have thought a mini based platform would do the trick.....a 0 Series??? Are BMW missing a trick the A1 seems very popular
Humm. The X1 is an SUV or SAV as BMW calls them, based on the UKL2 mini platform, so they already have a competitor. No point in making another one to compete against themselves. Only posted this to move the post to 65.
She loves the car. Thank f@£k for that. Tech is a wee bit baffling but sure she will get the hang ASAP. “So I don’t need the Tom Tom now?”
Watch your data... if your using 4/5G Should be fine unless your on 2gb per month.... Keep track on your phone under settings/ mobile data/ usage.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes....I knew someone would come back to give me the chance to move on to a later number I did know that the A1 wasn't an SUV. My wife had the 2019 Polo SE (see earlier post). The competitor could be the whole mini range that wife and I were not keen on. We like the Android Auto on Polo. Shame the X1 doesn't have that. Just has Apple Carplay.
Thanks. I’ve used Google maps for 6/7 years now, as long as the display is set to basic map it hardly uses any data.
Another trick BMW missed strange marketing mistake, Android has 72% market share with Apple iOS at 27%, BMW are letting down a large number of customer there by not including Android Auto (Now being addressed I believe) ...moved it on a again
Moving off Piste...sorry! Yes. In Connected Drive version 7. I believe! Not retrospective on older versions because of lack of hardware. I investigated this when I purchased our new X1 M Sport (iDrive 6 with touch control) that arrived on 30th September 2020. I am advised on https://www.bimmer-tech.net/ that there might be a solution in the future. But it will still be some sort of hardware add-on. I have a Samsung S10+ and it is bummer that I cannot mirror it even though the latest X1 M Sport has a 10" screen and the latest software that uses either the wheel or touch control. I am going to test my Granddaughter's iPhone XR when the full lockdown finishes and see if changing over from iPhone ios to Android in a couple of years time is worth the changeover cost versus paying for and using Connected drive and the BMW maps. So far using the HUD that is fully configurable and the BMW map is good.
So much for Audi reliability. The MMI system, stereo/computer etc on the big screen, has stopped working. The screen stays blank on start up, will restart if I do a hard reset, but then only lasts for a few journeys before it goes blank again. Can’t use the Bluetooth when it does this. It will be going back for a fix! It has a massive 234 miles on the clock. Not amused.
VAG have a problem with the latest iteration of cars and MMI screens. Software updates available but doesn’t always fix it. May need a new screen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Afraid I work on the assumption every bit of mechanical/electronic equipment will fail at some time. I judge on how well the dealer/manurfacturer deals with resolving it. Unfortunatly my local dealer just does not seem interested in doing warrantee work. i15/20 years ago they were very good , then changed hands. Car went in for 3 year inspection , told them the boot door was not opening correctly(informed when car booked in 4 weeks previous) they never made any attemt to fix it ,firstly shortage of time (they knew I had other cars and did not need it back),then its actually "OK Sir". After the warrantee run out they stated It would not be done FoC unless BMW agreed goodwill, even if they had already been informed of trouble.
Service are calling on Monday. A “software update” is required apparently. I’ve been out to reset it again, tried a software update from the unit but nothing there.
