That Lexus is one ugly motor! I can see the similarities, but I think the G20 has a long way to go before it's that bad. Let's hope not. Hopefully the 1 series will have a styling team that has more taste.
Got to love the new model hatred... I like the white one, is that the SE/luxury Clearly bmw is following the lines of Audi sleak and smooth as opposed to distinct swedge lines Guess they can’t please everyone, all the time!
Interior is growing on me a bit more, the more info/bigger HUD looks good but not hard a proper look was only a quick glimpse in the video. Outside - i'm still not convinced by the front.. the grill and the lights with that square bit at the bottom out just seems odd, although laser lights does sound good, have to find out more about those... iDrive screen does look good, hoping OTA updates are better than the existing non-existing ones, i always update via usb the maps as it never does OTA. Kev
Initially appears to be a bit of a mixed and busy external design. I'm waiting to see the G20 in the metal before making a judgement. What it drives like is going to be the critical bit for me. The fact it has grown in size again makes it a big enough car, will be interesting to test. Peter
A 340i xdrive touring or 330d xdrive could be every car you'll ever need if they get it right!! For me they've got to get that driving feel back that was there is spades in the E34/36/39/46
Grill looks like over plumped lips to me. And not sure making the grill have the same contours as the lights looks that good. Could be worse though, could have as many lines/angles as a civic type R. That lexus is seriously horrible. What were they thinking.
I've just shown my wife the video put up by @Adie, she says it's "Quite nice". Let me tell you, that is high praise for a car from her...
Saw this on another site but once seen cannot be unseen..... ....does anyone notice the rear door handles are much higher than the fronts
Hmm - there is whole list of things I don't like about it - but I'm not going to list them all. , I think they have made needless/excessive changes to the grille - perhaps indeed for the American market where they like things 'over the top'. Self-centring wheel centres - pointless. Digital dash - ergonomics experts have long ago proved that an analogue speedometer, rev-counter, or any other instrument for that matter, is quicker to read and impart info - you need only to see the angle of the needle - the exact numbers are pretty near irrelevant. The i-Drive control with the finger writing feature is a joke for me at any rate on a RHD car - I can use the turn facility of the 'older' ones to input a name far quicker than I can scribble with my left hand - probably fine if one is left handed though. I did try a LHD car and it was a breeze. @The CO I too have LED Adaptive headlights and have never had any issues with them when in mainland Europe - they 'dance' across to the nearside (that's the right side) of the road to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic - they seem to operate just in 'mirror-image' style to when in the UK. Certainly no one has ever flashed their lights at me as they used to do with older unmasked models - I have never fitted any deflectors or anything of that sort for many years now. I haven't yet read enough of the possible specs and configurations to see if the bigger engined models are only available with x-drive or not. For me x-drive neuters the handling to the extent that it is reminiscent of my old Freelander. I would have possibly bought a F30 335d if it had been available with rear drive only. Anyway - all will be revealed once we have experienced the test drives that the dealers will be offering us all in due course.
I'd be happy for her to get a low mileage F30 330/340i, if I can find one with adaptive suspension and memory seats. None are SE spec any more so it's a bit of a problem especially as they all seem to be on 19" wheels! I think the new 3 series will be a big seller, talking to my next door neighbour this morning (owns a F10 520d), he's off to Sttratstone's in Hull this afternoon to talk to them about getting one. Says the 330i will be perfect for him. I'm a bit wary of what I see is the excess techy stuff.
Aye, it's all very well until it starts to wrong, when the car has passed down the food chain to the likes of me.
