    Hi,
My name is Nigel and I have just joined the forum so take it easy on me! I have just got my M340i XDrive which I have done about 300 miles in now and I love it. I also have a 1250 GSA Rallye which I have had for a few months. I thought this would be the perfect BMW forum as it covers cars and bikes.

A couple of pics of my toys.

Welcome, Nigel. You've got a very nice pair of BMW's there. Also good to have a fellow biker on board. (y)

It would be interesting to hear your impression of the M340i. Those wheels look nice, but a PITA to clean?
I have ridden a few miles on the 1200 GS, but riding position a bit too upright for me (I had a 1200ST before my exg. Roadster).

Welcome indeed. Lovely couple of BMWs there.

Again, lovely looking wheels, haven’t seen those before. But the cleaning must be a labour of love...

Wow, instant celebrity! I think we'd all be really interested to know what your first impressions of the M340i are, I know I would be. Welcome all the same!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have only done about 500 miles in the car so far but first impressions are very good. I had a Mountune MR290 Focus before which was a lovely car to drive, well mapped and easy to poodle around in due to masses of torque if you wanted to. The M340i again has masses of grunt, much quieter than the Focus, its eerily quiet due to acoustic glass. The ride is quite firm, even in adaptive or comfort settings but no too bad. Economy is not great as you would expect but in economy pro mode on dual carriageways it is good due to the way it coasts. I do a lot of motorway and it is averaging low 30's at the moment. I like the way you can drive it in comfort or economy pro and it is like a limo and drives like a pussycat, all be it with huge grunt there if you want it or put everything in sport pro and it is a popping and banging growling beast! The X Drive and M diffs makes it feel extremely stable and when you 'drive' it through a bend you can feel it pulling you into the apex. My only criticism so fay are the seats, for a so called M Performance car the front seats do not have much lateral support. I would have expected and liked a more sporty seat.
As for the wheels, look lovely but £750 down already at 80 miles for a new one due to pothole damage, though I am intending to try and get the council to pay for it, and I have a lovely set of brand new 19's with tyres for sale!
Hope this helps for any prospective buyers, but go and take out a demo, you wont be disappointed!

Hi Mieke, not cleaned them yet, dealer cleaned it when they fitted my new wheel! £21 to swap tyre to new wheel and a clean and hoover, bargain! I landed in the Land due to the fact that the forum does bikes and cars, though the Motorrad section doesn't seem to active, I have posted pics of my bikes there as well. I like the GS, I've done about 3700 miles on it now, a lot 2 up and its great. I have spent a lot of time riding sports bikes etc and the last 6 years touring Europe on my VFR, FireBlade's before that. The GS is much more comfortable and a mile muncher in comparison, meaning you get to your destination less knackered.
