Same thought here, if it’s Approved used it used to be that they could sell it with whatever tyres were on it as long as the correct size but if they had to replace any they had to be star marked tyres.

Agreed. I thought part of the AUC program was all tyres had to be the same make and star marked. Certainly all five BMW I have bought from different main dealers have had matching tyres, tread depths and all been the same make. That is one thing they do seem to be careful of.

I've seen AUC cars with Landsail tyres, I've also seen cars with mixed brands on the same axle, not sure they worry as long as there is sufficient tread....

Last two cars I’ve had from BMW (Sytners and Barons) have had new Bridgestone RFTs on.

But of course if there is a transmission problem where warranty claim is involved, then you are into discussions about the tyres being * marked.

It definitely used to be that they could be different as long as they were in good condition, over 3mm and correct for the car. If any didn’t meet that standard then they had to be replaced with star marked.

Goldway is probably not a brand I would fit on my wheelbarrow, never mind my car,

They are one of the many brands available from Qingdao Tanco Tire Industrial & Commercial Co., Ltd. 青岛坦科轮胎工贸有限公司

Depending on which of their many websites one chooses to believe the company was founded in 1999 or perhaps 2008 - it varies!

Their factory is in China (of course) and AFAIK they are supplied worldwide through Alibaba at a price of around $15 per tyre any size.

Minimum purchase is 800 units or one 20ft container load.

Nuff Sedd about that then.

many punters probably wouldn't bat an eyelid at the shiny Goldway ECO Blue tyres. chances are it will be a first time BMW owner that buys it and they wont be aware that Chinese ditch finders are not the norm on all BMW cars

Well the Falkens are runflats, so presume so...

I just found it over generous that they changed the tyres (& also the front pads) without mentioning it way before needed prior to collection. I'd seen the fronts were 3 to 3.5 mm and would have been happy with that, they were all the original tyres, so gave a good indication of driving style.

A few more £££ off would have been nicer, maybe the way approved used funding is applied ?

the BMW approved used car check list says that a tyre that is down to 3mm should be changed prior to delivery. and the CBS service menu should be checked and you should carry out replace or service any item that is due in 6000 miles or six months or 3000 miles or 10 weeks for a car with BMW service pack

    it the BMW AUC way

    www.bmwland.org.uk/index./bmw-auc-checklist.

have a look at section 3 and 4 of the AUC check list

My G31 AUC had brand new GY F1 Assy 5 RF fitted so fair play to them, matched the rears which had 5.5mm on , being staggered of course there is no choice to put the new ones on the rear
